When I first joined Talk Bass I often felt out of place because I wasn't in a band or group and I didn't play professionally. I felt I couldn't really make any comments because I wasn't in a band or played professionally but then I realized I could make comments and suggestions because most things boil down to common sense and I also have invaluable life experience and plenty of experience with different gear. I think bands are cool and I think professional musicians are very cool but I get a huge rush and satisfaction out of finally learning a certain song.This club was inspired and started because of a post by Danharris.

Hey mj, can you add me? I actually play in two bands but still spend over 90% time playing alone (love me looper). I've also not been hired/rehired because I tend to be a "melodic" player (read overplay) and beyond all that, I play to challenge myself and one day actually enjoy what I play!

Thank you sir. I just hit 47 myself and sometimes wonder if all the work of playing out is worth it. I give it a close 50/50 at this point. Congrats on hitting retirement at this point in your life! That's like 30 years ahead of me
