The Mike Lull Club Part 2

I have chromes on my fretless and really like them. This is what Mike says he prefers. A lot of guys around here give love to the Sadowskys which are made by labella. I had flats on my pj5 but I'm not a fan of flat B strings on fretted basses. How are you liking the TI's?

First off because of the gauge and tension, I had to make a truss rod adjustment, and probably should raise the saddles a bit. The TIs sound good at home, but with a loud guitar playing rock, and played finger style, the sound just wasn't coming through like i hoped. Probably would sound better in a non rock situation.

Where these strings are really great is with a pick, and they sound killer with distortion like my Soundblox. This is on a passive Ash Lull PJ4 with Rosewood board. I'm going to try GHS Pressure Wounds next.

I'm one of the Sadiwsky flats lovers and while they are made by Labella they sound very different. There are a lot of threads describing the tone over in Strings, but I just wanted to point out that they are unique.

Sorry. I didn't mean to make them appear to sound the same. I may be trying them soon on my fender... Which I always like to point out was PLEK'D by Mike.

Kai turned me onto these Sadowsky flats, and now their my favorite flats. Just right on tension (better than TIs, which were my previous favorite) and lower cost that the TIs. What's not to love?

How did it go?

It went great. The gig was at Brett Favre's house. But there were so many people there, and the place was so big, I didn't get a chance to see who was or wasn't there. Now I'm looking forward to my band's EP release show this coming Friday. The EP will be on iTunes as well. It's along the lines of the alternative country/alternative pop genres.

Yep, I've got the Sadowsky flats on my Skyline 44-64 and they sound and feel great!
