The Mike Lull Club Part 4

Well, I'm worried that I went out on a limb here!! Not really worried, cause Mike's stuff is great, but a little nervous about my choices. I'm about a month out from getting my custom Lull MV5. Based on a handful of basses with similar specs, from different builders that I've played and heard, I decided to go with this combo.
MV5 jazz in 34" scale
ALDER BODY with maple fingerboard
Gold metallic with parchment pickguard like Mike's bass.
SD, single coil pups
Bart pre

Every alder bodied jazz with maple board I've played or heard, I've enjoyed! I either have or have had the usual ash/maple or alder/rosewood combos. This alder/maple seems like a nice compromise.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Anybody out there with a similar spec'd bass feel free to give me your feedback and what you've found.

I have a lull NRT5 15% larger in satin back with reverse headstock getting close to completion-getting antsy

Funkythumb, a huge congrats on the specs you've chosen for your new Lull.

The alder/maple combo in is my absolute favorite. The best P-Bass I've owned was an alder/maple '57 reissue Fender.

When I had my Ristola Exotic 6-string built, I went with the alder/maple combo on a hunch, and I couldn't be happier.

You still have the eveness of tone and great midrange of alder, the maple fingerboard adds definition and punch to the note's initial attack.

I think you new bass will be a Monster Tone Machine!

I agree with Arthur too. I have a Fender jazz with this wood combo that I dig so much I had Mike PLEK it.

Hi to all of you Lull owners! I am waiting for my first Lull - a custom order V4 that I ordered a few weeks go. I have a question: What size is the the Hipshot style A bridge that Lull uses on the 4 string P and J basses? On the Hipshot site I see it comes in 3 different sizes.

Thanks guys on all comments. The kid is my granddaughter. She was about 5 months old then, now 5. That pic was just a quick "no pic, no bass" shot. It actually looks much better in person.

Well here she is, my first Lull! She is a 2009-2010 lefty M5V with the Nordy Pre, Nordy humbuckers, 35" scale and a swamp ash body done in Olympic White. I could not be happier. Even came with an extra pick guard and a set of Nordy single coil pups in the case. These are the photos I received from the seller but I plan to take some more. I removed the chrome cover and have just strung her up with a new set of Hi Beams. What a machine! By far the best Jazz bass I have ever played. The case is pretty stunning too.

Thanks guys. Glad to be part of this club. I had seriously looked into ordering a new Lull last year but the price was a little steep after the 15% lefty surcharge and the particular options I would have wanted. This one came along and I just had to jump at it sight unseen. I am not disappointed in the least.

I have never played a 35" scale bass before and the spacing is a bit wider then I'm used to. I play Stingray5's primarily. I have been jonesing for a boutique Jazz for a long time and I can't see it getting much better then this.
