What you can't tell from the pictures is that this bass has Nordstrand P/J combo and I also had it routed for a J and had an extra pickguard at the same time. It sounds so good with this configuration I have never installed the J, even for curiosity. The preamp is the Nordstrand 2B with blend and tone control. I have had tried the stock D'addario strings, the Elixirs that Paul used on his PJ24 demo video (one of the contributing factors to my Lull purchase-Thanks Paul!!), Fat Beams, and I just swapped out to the Dunlop Superbright Nickels. I am in love with this configuration and the Dunlop Suberbright Nickels. Just the right tone and tension and the price is a side benefit.
After a couple of years with bass, the only thing I would do different is probably request a different truss rod nut. The necks are stable for sure, however this last winter was horrible for my basses (central Illinois). All of my basses had to be adjusted. My Roscoe and Skjold have the nut easily adjusted with a right angle allen wrench, but the Lull has standard nut to be adjusted with a flathead. A long flathead will work, but it is hard to use without damaging the pickguard. After some guidance from Mike, I took the neck off to adjust the truss rod. Now, it probably won't need it for awhile, but I will probably be changing out the nut in the future so I can make small changes to the truss rod without taking the neck off. Oh and if I went back now, I would probably add black binding to maple neck. Not blocks, just the binding. Anyway, I love my Lull!!
