Hey Fred, that's Paul, or "Pauliebass" on TB. He has chimed in before in this thread. He has a few Lulls and does a great demo on several.

As discussed on the for-sale thread, I am primarily a four-string player, and only keep one 5-er around for the occasional pickup gig.
I was holding onto the M5V for its exceptional looks and playability, but I was not thrilled with the tone.
There was also a nagging output difference between the B and the E and A strings. If we say the E was 100%, the B was 125% and the A was 90%.
I thought this is clearly a pickup issue, could have been a string issue, IDK, but I also thought I could adjust my playing style to just deal with it (or go have the pickups scrutinized, or swap them), but never got around to doing that, and didn't want to put more money into this bass.
Meanwhile, I fell in love with a diff manufacturer 5-string last week, and picked that up, making the M5V expendable. More even output, and a much more rock oriented bass, which is what I am usually needing the 5 for, so the new bass is a better fit for me and my needs.
I figured that out last night. Thanks.
Does the tone control work with the Bart 2-band whether active or passive?

In my opinion its like all Lulls are made for stainless rounds! they slap so easy!
My Favorite is Fodera stainless....the ones that come with the lull daddario stainless are good on it...but the Fodera are almost the same but a bit warmer so you can use the bass and EQ in a nice warm tone in one song...then slap happy tone in another song. I love them! they feel wonderful too!
I have labella flex flats thin flats on my TC4...It sounds and feels great but they dont slap very well.
I'm running D'Addario nickels on both of mine, which is uncharacteristic. I've been a stainless steel guy for years.
I am just using the D'Addario ProSteels that came with both of mine. I guess I am not very adventurous.
I've been a DR user for quite some time. I really like them, particularly their feel. Sunbeams really are one of my favorites. But I find that they quickly lose their "zing". I play finger style, rarely slap and don't use a pick so I want something that has sharpness and bite to it. I can always tone down the brightness with passive tone control/treble. Guessing the prosteels are a good bet. Would rather not pay the extra $ for DRs, if possible.
Prosteels are too scooped for my taste, but the nickels are surprisingly aggressive yet warm. Plus they last a long time and are cheap as dirt.
