The Mile-High Watts Club

Well, except maybe for this 3,000-watt IP setup!

1,500 watts of IP goodness!

which would it be and why? And maybe discount the extension cab of the 153, just the TP part of it...

Cheers,

Tough call. It would probably come down to the IP153 versus the IP322 proto, but the IP310 and IP212 are not at all far behind. In fact, there are days where I would put the IP310 in first place, and there are basses which sound a tad better to my ears with the IP212. They are all DSP'd in such a fashion as to be shooting pretty much for the same tone goal, so it's more about how each cab communicates its message and how they sound off-axis.

That being said, if you were to put a gun to my head and say I could only keep one, though (and I wasn't allowed to do the two-box IP153/EX115 solution), I'd probably have to roll with the IP322. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Rig I ran a long time ago:

PLX-3402 - Stereo mode with one Avatar B410 per channel, each receiving 1100 watts.
PLX-2402 - Bridged mono mode, providing 1200 watts to each Aguilar GS-212.
PLX-3402 - 2200 watts
PLX-2402 - 2400 watts

Total wattage = 4600
(theoretically)

My current rig just makes the cut at 900 watts:

So... why do we need that kind of power? I started running more power when the guitar player started playing through a Mesa D180 and blowing lots of speakers. And complaining that he couldn't hear me. (I wonder why?!) I keep meaning to add an earplug dispenser.

1300W with this load, crossed over at 80 Hz or so...absolutely sick loud and sounds wonderful at any volume.

Rocks the garage too.

Lots of great high watt rigs here in this thread. As you can see from this pic, I try to keep my life as simple as possible. I run the Crown bridged so it's putting out about 2000 watts into 4 ohms (or 1600 FTC watts per the Crown forum). Either way, be careful with that throttle, Mister. :)

hey Tom how do/did you like that Pilot V?

You know, I still like that bass a lot. It played very well, but had so so electronics (IMHO) when I bought it new, so I had my buddy Phil Maneri pimp it out with some Bartolini pickups and an Aguilar OBP-1, and I tell you what, that bass definitely kicks!

In fact, I think I need to bust it out at our next show. :D  :bassist:

Since I've been using a HyDrive, the Aguilars don't get out too often, and I've been using a Mesa 400+ and an Eden E300T as of late; however, I still own all of the components.

It's 1600 overcompensating watts, bridged into 4 ohms. I think the senstivity of the cabs are 101 db per watt.

My rack system is powered by a QSC RMX2450. I can push 1200 watts per side @2ohms or 2400 watts bridged mono @4 ohms. This is the only picture I could find, sorry it's not a close up. My preamp is an Alembic F-1X. Some awesome rigs in this thread!
