I'm still waiting for Genz to come out with a 1200 watt amp that actually puts out 1200 watts:p That, of course, would be an entirely different discussion:hiding: That's another point, many who feel like they have massive watts actually probably don't when you look at the frequency distribution of that power delivery, the THD, etc., etc. The Walter Woods Ultra is a classic example of that IMO and IME.

I dunno Ken, this 9.0 is pretty loud. You still need to hear it. Sounds OK IMO.

And the GBE1200 lead sled still ranks up there as one of my favs.

+1 Nice sounding stuff. Per the topic we were discussing before, specs, absolute power rating, etc. is just a part of what makes something sound good or not, and at best, there is a low correlation between most published 'marketing specs' and actual performance across a wide variety of products.

900W into the 410 and 600W into the 210 for a total of 1,500W.

In a particular room I run an 8 ohm extension cab (the AE112 shown) off the 210 as a drum/horn monitor for a total of 1,800W.

I played my first big outdoor show in 9 months or so last Saturday and barely had it in second gear. I've given up using the 410 + 210 in most rooms on the basis that the 410 being fed 900W kicks ample arse.

But my all time best fav sounding rig, and I've said this a TON of times, was my SWR Redhead on top of my Goliath 410.
I abused that rig for YEARS.

And I've been using one for a little while now as a "second cab" around town. I just happend to buy one of my own(mainly because the owner wanted it back).

And I may, if I could swing it, get another older Redhead.
Heavy as HELL. But man, that set up just did it for me.

Wow, some killer high power big rig pics posted in this thread! :cool:

I use a higher powered SS power amp, a Crest CA9, but I use it stereo into two 8 Ohm cabs, so I think that's 500 watts per side. So I don't know if that qualifies me for membership into the Mile High Amp Club. ;)

I remember lugging the big cabs to gigs many years ago, these days I prefer taking two smaller cabs that I can haul myself, -without help to gigs. :)

Oh yeah, I don't have any pics to post, so my rig doesn't exist. :D

Ken, I for one greatly enjoy your descriptions of all the different amps and cabs (and basses) that you've had experiences with, and I find them very useful. :cool:

I've been working on some new DIY stuff this week. Cameron might like this...

The 15s split 1000 watts and a custom DSP setting in my plate amp. The mid-horn gets 180 watts of nice pristine Hafler power. There are no fans in anything, and the noise floor is excellent. I'm using a modded Ashly BP-41 to biamp, and I have two different homemade line drivers available, one solid state and one tube. I haven't decided how to run the tweeter yet, but I have the other side of the Hafler for that if I decide on triamping.

The top cab is obviously a work in progress (no top, back, or sides yet), but it also sounded very nice with my little Fender tube amp running it yesterday. :bassist:
