The Muckelroy Bass Club Part 1 (It's high time!)

That's awesome. If Brady was still building, I'd have him do a 16.5mm 5-string fretted with a nice thin neck.

Now you've just gotta find the ideal 6-string with those Kent Armstrong pups. :)

Bryan
Well here are the pups, if anyone needs em!!!

They came out of my Muck 6 after I got a Smith.

Living near Brady I have had the privilege of trying out a TON of the basses that were custom builds and/or consignments that have rolled through his shop. (I know... I was one lucky dog. LOL) In the process, I've owned a whole bunch of different Mucks over the years, and held on to the best of the best. Well... right now (due to physical limitations), I'm considering unloading a few of my Mucks as I'm slowly moving to shorter-scale, narrower-neck basses. Honestly, most of my smaller basses are not nearly as nice as my Mucks, but they work with my shoulder, carpal tunnel and arthritis issues. I'm not yet emotionally ready to part with these, so I haven't listed them yet... but thought I'd put a feeler out on the Muck club to see if anyone has interest (and the funds). If I find someone who will truly appreciate these Mucks, maybe it'll make it easier for me to let them go. I've attached pics of two of my Mucks that may be up for sale soon. They're both 33" scale, have ramps, play like butter with zero buzz, and sound outstanding. Reach out to me if you're seriously interested. Thanks... Bryan.

Big Blue went to a fellow Muck-lover. It's his 3rd Muckelroy. I'll miss her, but she's in good hands. I'm going to hold on to the 4 string because the spacing is narrow enough and I can still manage the 33" scale.

Yes... you are correct, Jeff. I've been searching for a fretted Muck 5 with 16.5mm spacing.

But I did have Brady shave down the neck on my current fretted 5-string (was originally built for a 17.5 to 18mm spacing), and it's a little more narrow now. Not as narrow as Gus', but close.

Also, I'm in love with the tone on my current 5-string Muck bass, and I can tell from the audio clips (and talking to Brady) that this one would be a little different. Both are awesome... but different.

Another point of interest... the neck width on Brady's 16.5mm-spaced basses actually vary. For example, the neck on my fretless Muck 5 with 16.5mm string spacing is about 3/18" narrower than Gus' 16.5mm fretted Muck 5. Brady said that can be due to the original customers preference.

And finally... I'd need to sell a bass or two to fund this purchase... and I'm in love with all my basses right now.

Now having said that... it's still very tempting! 🤣🤣🤣

Don't hold me to this, but I might be willing to bite on another Muck if it was a 5-string, 18-19mm, 34", and had dual coils (preferably Bart P2-size) in the Jazz bass positions. Brady built my fretless 5 to those specs and I always wanted to do a similar fretted 5, but missed out. I actually have the Honey Badger Dual Coils and Flex-core preamp ready to go, so they'll likely end up in something else. Maybe get modded into my '91 Yamaha BB5000A (absolutely killer bass!).

But, if the right Muck popped up, I might seriously consider it.
