Hi guys, I just won myself a "new" Mu Fx Octave Divider off of eBay U.S. - so excited, can't wait to try the Octave Divider both on its own and with my Mu Tron 3x when it arrives. One concern I have though is it comes with a 12v AC U.S. power supply. Will this work in the UK with a UK plug adapter or does anyone have any other suggestions for how to power the Octave Divider? Is there a European power supply anyone can recommend? Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers for the quick reply Dannybuoy. I wasn't sure if it's the same power supply for both Mu Tron 3x and the Octave Divider. Sounds like it might. I'll take a look at what it comes with when it arrives.
What's a good price for a good condition vintage Mu Tron III these days? I still have dreams of owning an original Mu Tron, but struggle (certainly in Europe) to find one under €600. The ARP Mu Tron's seem to go for a bit cheaper, though I see on Richard Lingenbergs website that the ARP versions need additional recalibration in order to sound like an original Mu Tron.
Is the ARP version worth considering? Anyone on this forum got one?

The problem with this version of the Mu-Tron III is that they usually sweep too fast and high. Also the down mode usually will not sweep down all the way. The mod and calibration will slow the attack/ decay, set the top frequency of the sweep to factory specs and will also make the down mode function correctly"

The Arp ones are real Mutrons unlike the Haz. I got mine calibrated to normal Mutron specs but for guitar players the Arp version is the Jerry Garcia version.
Cheers Mosfed, yes I'm willing it to arrive soon. Do you have both the original Mu-Tron Octave Divider and the newer Mu Fx one? Any noticeable differences?
Thanks for clarifying. I think it'll be the pre ARP, 2x 9v battery powered Mu-Tron III that I might go for. I just need to find a good deal for one somewhere!
Well I went for broke and got myself an original Mu-Tron III. It's the most immaculate one I've yet come across. Only arrived today from Soundgas in the UK. It sounds absolutely filthy McNasty. I gotta give credit to Mike's Tru-Tron 3x as playing them side by side the Tru Tron absolutely nails the original Mu Tron III, but the original sounds (very) slightly diiirtier. (and has that vintage mojo of course). After all the filters I've bought over the years the Mu-Tron IS that sound. Mike Beigel is a funky genius! I may even have to sell some of my other filters 'cos they ain't gonna get the use.

I have an old Mu-Tron Octave Divider that I bought sometime around 1978. I used to use it in conjunction with an Ibanez analog chorus. It emulated a synth bass effectively as long as I didn't try to play below a D. The octave would start to break up at around C. I haven't plugged it in for at least thirty years, but lately I've thought about digging it out (wherever it is) and putting it back to work. That's if it still works. I stopped using it when I got a five string bass.
And it's probably worth a fair bit of money now too if it's still working. Still awaiting my Mu Fx one to arrive. Cant wait to give it a try

I just sold it for ten dollars.
Actually, I looked at eBay a few years ago to see what they're going for. I'll probably keep it and set it up in my recording studio. I have a soft spot in my heart for it since I dragged it all over the country back in my road days. I used to run it through two 15" JBL K-140s, biamped with two Gauss 10s. I don't remember what the first amp I used was, but later I got a G-K 800rb. That rig sounded great. I blew one of the 15s showing off to my son. That cab is also sitting in a closet somewhere. I should get the 15 reconed and put that cab back to work. I don't know what I did with the 2x10 cab, but it's long gone. The Ibanez effects unit is long gone too. Too bad. I should have kept all of it.
The original Octave Dividers are great pedals by all accounts. Makes sense to keep it. Get all that old gear out and use it thoughI just sold it for ten dollars.

Damn you. Your not helping me. I'm at this moment contemplating buying an old Sunn 215 loaded with K140's. Are those speakers really as special as folks like to remember?I just sold it for ten dollars.
