My old amp lost its equalizer, and I saw a crazy sale on PF-500s so here is my updated rig:
  • PF-500
  • BFM Jack 110 with tweeters
  • a bunch of pedals that get shared with the guitar.

Now that the Venture heads have been out in the wild for a while, has anyone got experience with them in a live environment? I'm wondering if they have inherited the reliability and QC issues from the old Portaflex and SVT-7 heads.

Basically, I'd love to buy one (probably the V12) - the Ampeg tone is peerless to my ears, but, as someone who's owned both a PF-800 and an SVT-7 before and had them both crap out on me at gigs, I'm cautious and maybe a bit sceptical.

I've heard that since Yamaha bought Ampeg, things have got a lot better, but I'd like to hear some first-hand experience. I've heard a couple of scare stories, like the V12 being unusually quiet for something with so much power.

Anyone?

One full gig and numerous longer practices with a V-12, and no issues. :thumbsup:

Hoping the club can offer suggestions for a modern Ampeg replacement for this combo amp. B-1, 150W, 12", performs perfectly and hoping to find a modern 'equivalent' made by this reputable maker. Size (not huge!) matters. Hatchback transit. Thoughts?

That would be my guess, but unfortunately, I don't have a link to prove it at the moment (and yes, I've read the manual, too).

Not enough info. Settings would help. Was the noise always there or just when you played? Might have been stressing out the cab? What is it? Bass you used?
