Soy FTW. Most of the soy products sold for the purpose of cooking are 50% protein (I believe they add some isolated soy protein to increase the protein)! Like the ground soy, which looks a bit like minced meat. Very cheap, and it doesn't taste much like anything so you can use spices to make it taste just the way you want it to. I eat meat, but I also eat a lot of foods which typically only vegans/vegetarians eat.
Although, according to many very reliable sources, soy will make you gay and cause cancer. :D

The problem with soy is that it can counteract testosterone production, which is terrible if you are attempting a weight training program. Your body NEEDS protein for growth and recovery; this protein should come from meat, eggs, nuts and milk. I cringe every time someone comes to me and says that they are a vegetarian or vegan, especially younger males. The best thing to do is to eat organic meats and fish, things that are hormone-free. We are killing ourselves with all the crap we put in our bodies. Obesity did not exist before we had all the processed foods, people ate to live and now the live to eat.

Another thing to remember is that if you are healthy, you are worth nothing to drug companies or other industries that make only make money off of your poor health. They need you to be fat, they need you to be sick and they need you to believe that they are the answer to your problems.

But from what I understand, you'd really need to eat A LOT (a few pounds at least) of soy before it would increase your estrogen enough to make a real difference?
Besides aren't the plant estrogens considerably weaker than animal estrogens?
I am not a vegan/vegetarian, and have no intentions of becoming one, but I do eat soy and other "vegan things" every now and then.

Just wondering, how well does one of those pullup bars that you mount in doorpost work?

Where I live now I don't have a pullupbar and I need to get crackin' again. Then again, I don't want to come crashing down on my knees after 5 reps.

I'm late to post this, but if you're still looking, the Iron Gym Xtreme (the newer version of the Iron Gym with more places to grip) is awesome. I've quietly been working out again since February, and getting this thing has helped a lot. I weigh about 195 now (started out at 205) and it holds my weight with ease.

My friend just made marching baritone section leader and is going to make them march with ankle weights on their bells. BA if you ask me! Weights doing great, lost about 10lbs, getting stronger, running... let me check... IT STILL SUCKS! My gosh I hate that dreadful thing, I mean cardio is no big deal, doing various drills back to back is fine, I just despise going out for a boring mile run. It's like standing still for a few minutes and feeling like crap, no satisfaction at all! Bah.

On a different note, my friend recently squatted 405lbs for 4 reps! Meanwhile I did my set of 3x10 with 145 :p . When he dumped the weight on the 5th one failed the whole room shook!!!

Try some HIIT style cardio, more interesting that regular cardio.

You'll get there with the squats eventually :) .

A guy in my gym is a total beast, counted 275Kg (~605lbs) for 4 reps. Not seen him in over a month, he was trying to up the reps at that weight, but had been stuck trying to get the 5th on. I have no doubt he's probably managed by now!

It's the best answer to any "How do I make my ... bigger" other squat fans will know what I'm on about.

Without squats I don't think you have a routine, with squats you can make everything bigger because it's such a big compound move.

You could add in some chinups (palms facing) they really hit your biceps.

I hit the iron 4 times a week, im focusing mainly in developing a more muscular upper body, however my biceps dont seem to be growing...

I have 2 routines: (showing biceps only)

Days 1 and 3

-Seated hammer curls 4 series 12,10,8,8 reps this is very demanding.

-Close grip barebell curls 4 series 12,12,10,8 reps.

Days 2 and 4

-Rear pulldown 4 series 12,12,10,8 reps

-Seated row 4 series 12,12,10,8 reps

-Upright row 4 series 12,12,10,8 reps

-then some other exercise that looks like seated row but i dont kno how its called 4 series 12,12,10,8 reps

Don't over-do it, you are doing a lot of bicep-hitting exercises, possibly without much rest in-between those workouts.

I would recommend more rest in-between your bicep workouts, and see how that goes then if that doesn't work then some people train just one or two lagging muscle groups for a few weeks to bring it up to level with the rest of thier body, training hard but resting long.

If you really want to bring them up then skip the first option and go for the second, if you want to keep training the rest of your body then go for the first. Just remember the KISS rule.

i did skullcrushers yesterday for the first time and my elbows hurt so much. Anybody care to explain why? It shouldn't be putting this much stress on my elbow.

It could be a question of technique. I know that some people have flexibility issues (depending on the grip used). Try changing your grip (ie from overhand to underhand).

There are other tricep excersises worth trying tho, plenty to check out on the net ;)

Was at a female friends flatwarming last weekend. Not seen them in a long while, was getting pretty good comments on my size, so, heck, looks like I am getting somewhere
