Great, but I'd leave the pickguard off. Well, they just did this.....

Ooh so definitely a possibility. Would be after a much smoother gradient though. And yeah I think I'd go a clear pick guard maybe since the control plate looks silly on its own, either that or spring for the Elwood-L so there's no control plate. Comparing these Sadowsky's though I do kind of like the control plate + clear, or even the L style with a clear pickguard, wouldn't want to scratch up that pretty finish. Once again I am paralysed by choice :crying:

Those all look great too, but I would also favor the blue to green in your mockup. Really beautiful and not seen as often as all those burst variations on flamed and quilted maple.

I actually also like the control plate, but only if it is black (and the entire hardware too).

Oh yes, definitely opting for the fade finish if it's doable, was more comparing the different variations of pick guards and control plates. I've decided I don't like the head stock of the Elwood L as much as the C, so going to go for the C with the control plate and clear pick guard I think. Just shot off an email with my finish idea, we'll see how it goes!

i have to admit i've not figured that one out yet.

a few custom upgraded necks have come out as "flat head" with string tree and all or just about 99% of "standard necks" came out with none and angled head.

Adrian ended up referring to me to someone in Australia - the link for their website is down and they have minimal presence otherwise which is a bit weird, but I guess they're the dealer for here. Is there a markup for going through a dealer? I wish I could just order straight through the website but the custom things make that a little difficult.

Adrian's English isn't bad (does he speak Polish, German and English? Impressive!), but it's probably easier for him for me to speak to someone here haha.

Edit: and that guy referred me to another place closer - they seem to have a bigger store and presence so more comfortable with them.

he speaks polish, german , English yes... His english is a bit "rough" but gets his point across.

as far as i understand there's never gonna be a huge difference with a dealer or direct.

Main thing is : Australian dealer will quote you with all your taxes included as he's likely gonna pay those upfront and then charge them back onto final customer. Or any dealer for that matter (when dealing with local customer)

I , myself , will discount Europe tax for anybody out cause they're then responsible for all their taxes. Sometimes it's more interesting for people as their tax rate is much lower than ours.

Yeah, for me it would be 10% tax when importing. The base price on the Elwood is €1090 but for me it's listed as €916. Add 10% and it's around €1010, so it's €80 less. It was quite nice seeing the price drop as much as it did after I changed my country :laugh:

Local dealer says they're sorting out the quote, my wallet is quivering in fear :sorry:

sure , as you are out of Europe you don't pay the 19% German Tax (or 21% Tax if you were dealing with me)
So depending on import taxes on other end. Sometimes works out super nicely for end customer.

at the end of the day , in this ultra globalised economy a local dealer is only useful for dealing in your local currency and not having to wonder about import process. It can be a brain fart.

I've bought a guitar from Germany before, it was actually pretty simple since I didn't have to pay tax at the time, it was just under $1000AUD including a hard case and back then any goods under $1000 were exempt from the 10% tax, so that guitar ended up being incredibly cheap for what I got, a local one without a case was $1400, bleh. That's why I'm a bit wary of local stuff sometimes, that kind of increase in price is pretty rough. I imagine now they'd hold it at customs or whatever til you pay the import tax, some things seem to get through without them bothering though, I don't really know how it works.

Fortunately it seems to have improved for some things, I got my Sandberg from my local store for less than I could get it directly from them, it's like they managed to get it tax free or something lol, even then they wouldn't have had any margin on it. (Unless Sandberg has increased their prices recently).
