no major difference , the only one being that a Canadian dealer will import for you and pay all Canadians duties then invoice you for "final price" delivered to your door.

if you know / can be bothered to figure out how duties work around you.

So yeah, I don't know if Maruszczyk have a lot of orders at the moment...

The bass arrived this week and I'm currently fine tuning the set up as it settles down from the transport and in general as a new build. It seems very promising so far. Also getting the fingers and brain used to it as well.

Quick overview of the bass:

5 String E-C
Aguilar DCB4 pickups
Aguilar OBP3 preamp
Mahogony body
Maple neck
Katalox fingerboard
Flame maple top

...looking forwards to getting up to speed on this and being part of the Maruszczyk community here.

Oh yeah!

I am waiting for a Sputnik 5 E-C too! But mine will be 32".

I chose Aguilar electronics like yours. How does it sound?

I have a frog 6 string with the ETS bridge and 2 with a monorail bridge.

Considering weight, I cant help you, not sure what the difference is. Adrian will probably be able tot Tell you this, though.

The ETS bridge feels like a slightly higher quality bridge and it looks better in my opinion, though I've had no problems with the monorail bridge for the last 9 years. If /when I buy another frog, I might just stick with the monorail, since it gets the job done just as well as the ETS.

Nice... I think 32 is a good choice as well - I'm sure you'll love it!

I like the sound of the Aguilar pickups and electronics personally. I had a listen to almost all the videos on the Public Peace youtube channel and that was the combination that (along with the Sputnik) that was most pleasing to my ears. I would say it is very versatile as well and you get a huge range of cut/boost it seems. A few players that I like also use them (although I'm sure they would sound good with any pickups). Adrian hinted that there might be a video of it coming but I'm not certain there.

One thing I found strange was that I didn't tell Adrian if I would prefer a toggle switch or a push pull for the mid range frequency selector on the OBP3 pre-amp... so he just didn't do either - I can't switch the mids. Not a big deal I suppose as fitting a push pull later should be a quick job. Just something to look out for I guess. Possibly my fault?

Anyway, yes... took me a couple of weeks to get the hands and brain used to it and just make those little adjustments to string height but I now feel very much at home there. Really enjoying playing it now.

I've got a couple of go-to settings on the preamp now as well. Tend to do very little with the bass. Just a nudge of boost for a slap sound (along with cut mids and little boost on treble and slight bias to the neck pickup). I also like going almost full to the bridge, cut the highs, boost the mids.. loads of options though. All just taste I guess.

The big problem is that I think I want a 6 string as well now...! Looking forwards to seeing your bass too, although no doubt not as much as you are..!

I don't know to be honest, sorry. I hadn't seen that mentioned and haven't needed to adjust it myself yet so really don't know. The adjustment process doesn't look drastically different to many other modern bridges though. I'll be putting on some new strings relatively soon so can have a better look then and might even need to do some adjustment... will let you know. At this stage it isn't something that worries me though. Let's see...

no idea if it's standard or not on AGUILAR OBP-3.

I've seen with and without.

Still yea , probably easy fix if you think it's mega important :)

I never owned a frog. But I have owned a Cazpar and the shape was what led me to sell it. The Cazpar is like a small frog. Standing up it's great to play it, the big upper horn makes the neck closer to you. But sitting down, which is a position I play a lot, it didn't work for me. The down cut on the body, when resting on my leg, made the body of the bass go way back. It was uncomfortable to my right hand and it made the bass unbalanced and with a reverse neck dive problem. It had body dive, which is really strange.

But this is only my experience and this was a 30" bass. It will be part of the deal to get the Sputnik.
