I ordered mine on June 10, 2021. There was a delay because the tuners that I ordered were back-ordered. Adrian told me that it would delay the completion by 1-2 weeks. Ideally it would have been about 13 weeks

Absolutely stunning. I'm a sucker for pearloid but with that top clear all the way. Can't go wrong with any of them though.
The top wood is beautiful. Ideally, there wouldn't be any pickguard at all. But since the screw holes are already drilled, I'd say stick with the first one. The pearloid is a nice accent. The tort is visually kind of muddy with the shade of the top wood, and the clear one looks like someone tried to put a condom on the bass.
I sure appreciate all of my TB buddies giving me some input. Chances are, I will change out the pickguard every once in a while. It is evident that there is not an overwhelming opinion. I am leaning towards the cream pearloid and the clear.
Was playing around with the configurator last night...I would still like to order a white 30" Jake someday.

Made some recent mods to my Jake 5, seems the Nordstrand Big Blades and Noll TCM 3PM work extremely well together, finally sounds the way it should.

Beautiful bass! What pickups did it have before, and what didn't you like about the sound?
Also, is that an ETS bridge? Does it have any intonation screws? (I don't see any.) If not, how do you intonate it?
Thanks, it had BassCulture 38HB's, and to be honest they sound fabulous. Very clean and articulate....but for me ...maybe a little too polite for the sound I was looking for.
That's the standard bridge ABM style. It has Saddle screws that are at a 45 degree angle on the left side of each saddle.
Honesty, I've yet to find the sound I want from my 5-string 30" Cazpar J/J with Delano JC 5 HE/M2, but it may well be because the very few flatwound string options for a 30" 5-string were not to my taste. It's currently getting a string through conversion and TI Jazz Flats so hopefully that will help. I originally was going to go with Maruszczyk or Haussel single coils and wonder if I should have gone with my first inclination. It did take me 9 months to find my tone from my Mustang PJ though. My music room is difficult to EQ with 3 walls of windows and concrete floor with a thin patio carpet - sucks the bass right out of the E-string low E through G and amplifies bass around the 12 fret (both basses). I'm hoping to find the tones I want without having to switch pickups.
A bad(or small) room and a boxy sounding amp can make it hard to get a good sound. Room treatment would help.
Eliminate variables. Try your rig outside or in a large room if possible to get a baseline idea of what you're working with. Run the EQ2 into the effects loop return or link in jack on your amp.
Try cutting 100hz - 400hz and start from there if you can't move your rig at the moment.
Different pickups aren't going to solve the problem in this case. A lot of tone options are possible your EQ2 and Delano's.
The weak link is the room and maybe the amp to a lesser extent.

I think the room is probably the weak link. When I move the rig I don't play as much (I've tried) - it is in my home office always arm's length away (and my office computer is also my music computer). I'm not sure what treatment I could try - all walls are either windows, double door openings, or storage/parts racks.
I haven't tried other amps - any reason why my Acoustic B300C could be a weak link? I've heard it should work well with a 5 string but don't know much.
I have been meaning to but haven't tried the EQ2 through the effects loop yet. I'll give it a go as soon as I get my Cazpar back. Thanks for the advice.
The blades look great, I bet they sound amazing… and Wow, that carbon fiber pick guard looks great on there! Did you custom fab that?
Yep, good pickups IMHO. I have had a couple sets of the 4J-HC (pre Korg)… the last ones I put in an el-cheap-o vintage modified fretless that made a huge difference, super quiet and good tone. I actually have an extra set of new ones that I no longer have a project for
I don't play 4s anymore, so not likely I'll ever use them, but who knows.
Just the pup swap, right? Did you get the clean and clear Big Blades?
Thanks, your right I wasn't sure about the Big Blades, but teamed up with the Noll Preamp they are easily contoured to my liking. I am truly enjoying the parametric mid-sweep knob. The pickguard is nothing special, it was the original flat black 1 ply black pickguard covered in 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber vinyl film. I have done this on quite a few pickguards and always liked the look. If you have one you want done send it my way.
