Oh, I meant "string retainer".String container?
Congrats on the beautiful bass!
Normally I put those on myself and had one ready. In the first pics you can see that initially it didn't have one on the headstock. But when the bass arrived, it did.

This is my new Cazpar order placed Friday through Randy at Bass Spotlight. I sold my Black Cazpar to a fellow TB'er.
The Delano Xtender P/J & Humbucker in the black Cazpar were nice pickups but I needed something a little different and after doing some research I decided to go with the Nordstrand Zen Blades for this new build. The great Barticus made me this mockup of how the White Ebony board that I ended up choosing should look.![]()
That's sharp - White Ebony seems tailor-made for natural ash w black hardware.

Finally decided on a new Maruszcyck. Went with a Mopped B 5 String, nothing flashy, Spy vs. Spy came to mind when I finished. I asked for the Delano PVC5 in reverse position and a couple of 9V battery boxes added in case I decide to convert from the current passive preamp.

That is sharp!
I don't know when it'll happen, but my second Maruszczyk will be a Moped.
I always wanted a 5 String Fender Mustang, figured a custom version made the way I want it may be a better option, and probably balances better.....we will see.
Is the 32" mainly for comfort or is there a sonic thing you are looking for in a 5 string at that length? Just curious?Yeah, I'm thinking a 32" fiver.

First, congrats on the gorgeous new bass!I just received my 32" Joker B hollowbody that plays fantastic! Nice and lightweight, balances perfectly, etc.. but finding strings for a fiver in medium scale is not easy. I would recommend that you get a string through body so that you can use 34" scale strings. I did NOT order mine that way. I'm Not sure if I could have being a semi-hollowbody. I also may change out the pickups. I didn't realize that the Delano 4 coil pickups would be ceramic magnets and I prefer Alnico 5.

==========================================================First, congrats on the gorgeous new bass!
Before changing things on it, I recommend spending some time with it. Specifically, I'd be interested in how you take to those strings. If you like them, you know where you can find more of them. And if you don't like them, you still might find suitable strings from M if you try flatwounds or SS rounds, depending. Also, you might warm up to the pickup. When you listen to it, try to do it from the perspective of "Can I like these?" rather than "Can I find fault with these?" The grass is always greener... but when you get to that patch of green grass, sometimes it isn't what it appeared to be when you looked at it from farther away.
Just curious, what does the back of the Joker look like, does it have an access cover?I just received my 32" Joker B hollowbody that plays fantastic! thanks for the reply! That makes sense… I was wondering if there would be enough length for a B to sound solidI'm a 30" player now for ease of playing (for me). I've tried a B string on my 30"s and it doesn't work well. I'm thinking 32" would be a good compromise.
It has a battery box and access to the cavity for the pots and preamp, etc..
