Can you sand/file some material off of the bottom of each saddle to lower them a bit?
This is the one. I don't want to sand the bridge, I think easier to shim the neck
Can those covers come off? You can get solid covers (I did this for my Delanos), or I think you can even add a little spacer so the highest pole pieces are flush. The lower ones would be recessed a bit in the holes, but you wouldn’t notice it if you weren’t up close.
I have no idea about modifying a single coil pickup like this one. I am taking the EASY way out and replacing the pickups. Since the Aguilar HC 5 J pickups are new, I think that I should find a buyer by selling at a good price. I am researching which pickups I should get as replacements currently.
Can’t comment on the issue, but that’s a great looking bass. How do you like the Jazzus otherwise from the action?
I feel something special when I play it. I think this is in the top 3 bass in my life and I owned around 100 in the past 15 years. Outstanding fit and finish, the sound is so clean and powerful and the neck is perfect.
Shimming the neck is easy and reversible if needed. Absolutely do not sand the bridge. It's not likely to do much unless you sand off a whole lot of material and you'll have irreversibly modded (i.e., wrecked) the bridge.
If you want to change pickups because of the sound, that’s one thing. But if it’s purely for the raised pole pieces, it’s actually easier to swap covers than swap pickups. And certainly cheaper. I’m not trying to sway you one way or the other, just letting you know in case you want to save some $. A call to Aguilar would give you all the info you need.
Not the bridge, the bottom of the saddle inserts. But after seeing an actual picture, it looks like there’s more room to adjust the saddles down. I’d start by adjusting the pieces all the way down so they’re level with the base of the bridge first and then slowly bring them up to the right level and radius of the fingerboard. I’d be shocked if you can’t get that action lower than it already is without modifying anything.

Wow that's a bummer, I had some preamp wiring questions (couldn't find the exact schematic I'm looking for) so I called and got to dealer support (Korg) he told me the ONLY way to contact them is via email now (no more phone support at all) through this address - [email protected]

I sent them a note just the other day to see if they made a DCB-5P to match the new DCB-5M, they told me they have had plenty of requests for it, but it's up to the powers that be to make that decision.

I've added a .025⁰ shim from Stew Mac to a couple of basses and it's helped me get slightly lower action. Especially up at the higher frets. If you do shim, do it properly, with a proper shim that fits in the entire neck pocket. The business card in the end of the neck pocket method can lead to longer-term problems down the road.
