I know I'm all over the place today .... but this configurator is fun as all hell !!!!!

Look at this ridiculously beautiful bass ..... the array of options are simply amazing ..... BIG respects to Adrian and Maruszczyk basses

If you consider humcancelling pickups, I can recommend the Delanos, which I have in my Elwood and my Frog. Nice and fat and enough single coil character for me.

Ok, gonna order one for myself, I have decided! Going to sell se Sei Flamboyant 4 and buy a fretless! For years I wanted a fretless, and now it's time. I am just a hobbyist, but I don't care. I want to make the fretless my main bass. I have a Hamer Cruise 4 strings MiK with seymour duncan vintage II, the Sei (going to sell that) and a Fender acoustic. Many times I thought of converting the Hamer to fretless and buy a Jazz Bass, but I love the Hamer, it's my first bass, it's setup professionally, fret dressed, all the works.

So, the fretless is going to be the one and it is going to be a Maruszczyk!

I want a Jazz Bass with some upgrades. The aesthetic part is already decided. But I have many doubts about almost everything else! Hope you guys can help me.

1. Scale: the Hamer is 34, never really noticed that, but now I think maybe I should go 32? What is the difference in the length of the frets? Is the neck shorter?

2. Fretlines: I don't want an empty fingerboard, but I don't want visible fretlines also. I am indecisive about mini ghost lines or very dark ghost lines, only noticeable by the player. Do you think they would make that? Don't want dots on the fingerboard either.

3. Pickups: ok, absolutely love the Jaco sound (yes, I know), love the Tim Commerford RATM sound, love the sound of the PJ Tony Franklin bass. So, it has to be passive, a little dirty, vintage. Don't like the modern active sound, and not so much bright sounding basses like Marcus Miller. Instead of JJ pickups I was thinking maybe PJ? Can I get the Jazz bass sound anyway? Because I don't like the sound of just the neck J pickup, too soft. Maybe the neck P pickup would be stronger?

4. Hardware: I know the Hamer has a Schaller bridge, don't know anything else. Any thoughts/advices on the bridge? I was thinking the Fender bridge, to make the body cleaner. I also would like volume, volume, tone, but with a 3 position switch to choose between the pups. I want rear access to the electronics but I would like the jack to be inserted on the front. I sometimes play seated. Do you think that is possible?
What about the tuners? I want clovers, but I am clueless about the types. Which are the best?

5. Sound: the seymour Duncan's? The Maruszczyk pups? I have no idea.

For those that have had their basses shipped to the US, how much in taxes did you have to pay? Configurator says "tax liability is shifted to the recipient of the supply." I ask because the configurator is giving me a final price of € 957.98, which I'm converting to roughly $1150. US dealer is giving me a price of $1290. I'm guessing he's including that tax? I've never tried to haggle a price before, so not sure how to go about it haha.

About a week after I got my Elwood Fedex forwarded me an invoice from the US gov't for $95 import tax. I bought direct from Adrian.

I bought a Mayones bass used from a TB member who lived in Poland .... I was completely taken back when the UPS delivery guy gave me a bill for $103 for the import tax .... FWIW, UPS only takes checks for that too ... It's 2017, who keeps a check on them?!

I believe I read from a U.S. Dealer Import/customs would be taken care of when placing the order with him, and i think shipping would be in there, too.

Since people have asked quite some times about shipping etc., here is the official statement from Public Peace:

SHIPPING AND HANDLING COSTS
Shipping to destinations in Germany:
Orders above 50,- EUR are free of shipping costs! *
For orders below 50,- EUR a shipping fee of 7,- EUR (incl. insurance) applies.

Shipping to destinations within the EU:
Orders above 150,- EUR are free of shipping costs! *
For orders below 150,- EUR a shipping fee of 20,- EUR (incl. insurance) applies.

Shipping to destinations in Europe outside the EU:
Orders above 250,- EUR are free of shipping costs! *
For orders below 250,- EUR a shipping fee of 30,- EUR (incl. insurance) applies.

Shipping to worldwide destinations outside Europe:
The german value added tax (VAT) will be deducted from the value of goods. The customer is required to bear all customs duties and taxes that may apply.
Shipping costs will be calculated depending on the weight of the goods and the mode of dispatch.

* Important notice:
When returning an order in parts, the customer will be charged the applying shipping fee in case of the value of the remaining goods falling below 50,-€ (Germany) / 150,-€ (EU) / 250,-€ (Europe outside EU).


So, if you guys are unsure about customs and import, I believe it would be best to look/ask for your nearest local dealer, that way it will likely be taken care of and included in the price.

Anyone got experience using Maruszczyk Single Coils in an Elwood 4P? I'm wanting to get an Elwood to go with my Jake 5a+ (i like my 4 strings passive!) I was toying with getting some Aguilar ag4 aj-60s but I'm curious as to how Maruszczyk own brand singles sound. Most the clips on YouTube are the Maruszczyk singles with an Active circuit, the only one passive that i can find is on a fretless.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

The dealer will import for you (pay tax on his end, if taxed at all , USA customs can be lazy) and then send ;)

So price is price when going through local dealer , no bad surprises after ;)

I've sent 3 basses that were taxed in the US from 5 to 8%

I received mine from Pierre, delivered by US Post, no additional taxes or duties. It's weird the way it happens. But he has a good idea of how to get things here.
