Well, it's not a terribly scientific study as I'm not able to play either of those before buying them, I can only go by all the reviews I have read on both AND all the videos I've watched on YT.
I also own a Frog Beta 4 so I am familiar with the Delano pups that Adrian puts in his basses. My only concern is for the same price I can buy a slightly used Sandberg California and I've yet to see anything but killer reviews on those basses and they have that classic Stingray tone I love.
I'm just looking for some feedback from any of you who are familiar with both - Thanks
Aren't the Sandberg pups also made by Delano? In that case, maybe no huge difference?
If you want a Stingray tone, why not a used Stingray? Both the Sandberg and the Maruszczyk have the pup closer to the bridge, so the tone may be close but probably not identical.

Thanks Bassman, I already have a Stingray classic and a 4HH and I love them both but I dig the body style and aesthetics of the Sandberg and the Maruszczyk models .... that's why I am in the market for 1 of the two of them.
I'm thinking that if the neck pup is closer to the neck, the tones will even warmer and that's not a bad thing

I am also thinking in getting a P bass styled with a MM type pickup in the bridge. I was playing with the Maruszczyk configurator. I ended up with a Jake with Delando P and MM Pickups. But I realised that the configuration and price point ended up being quite close to that of a Sandberg California VM4 with very similar specs.
So I am wondering which one would be a better choice. Similar body shape, pickups and so on. Of course, thanks to the configurator the Marusckzyk allows to tune up the really minor things more to my liking (Sandberg has also their own cofigurator for all the important ones, but I think it is less comprehensive in the small details) but there is one thing I like more on the Sandbergs and are the reverse P configuration. Is it possible to order a Maruszczyk with a reverse P pickup?
Anyway, I think both companies could deliver a great bass with all the "important" features customized to my liking, so probably either direction would be a good choice.

Basically, almost anything is possible. Ask Adrian.
I d0n't know about Sandberg's standard neck profile/measurements, but I'm definitely more happy with the standard profile from Maruszczyk (their standard is a fretboard radius of 14").
Yeah ,also asked,Adrian for a 30" short scale Frog. He said 32" was shortest he could go; sometyhing about the set neck. Would not allow him to make 30". He told me about the Caspar. I did want a light bass also . I did order a cazpar and remarkably surprise how good this bass sounds. Came in at 6.3 Lbs. I'm just hoping some time in future he will be able to make a 30" Frog.

If I had to guess they would probably need to compromise on the 24 fret design, maybe something he's not willing to do, and/or change the bridge position to make the 30'' scale design work. It's probably not worth it to "tool up" production for a bass like that.
I would like to see a 30" scale Frog. Sometime in the future. I got my eye on a custom CB bass or a custom xylem. His lost, not mine. That's the way I see it.
He's made 3 short scale basses for me and they all kick Ass. They got a great build team IMO. Due to my injury I need 30" scale bass. Not posting that picture again. Some people didn't like. LOL.
I used Sandberg VM4 (like you show) before Frog - it was very heavy and had a neck-dive issue. Can't compare sound tho - it had big poles and huge output while my frog has standard pups and regular (vintagy) output. It's up to you to decide tho - I believe there're a lot of good instruments among Sandberg - but my back wasn't happy with mine
I second the weight thing. Don't have any back or shoulder problems, also I don'T think mine has any neck-dive issues, but it weighs about 11 pounds...
I don't want a headstock....I like headless basses cause they fit well on a small stage and stay in tune better. I have arthritis in my hands, 30" is all I can handle and I love the way the Frog looks.....oh well....
