It sounds fantastic. I love Delano preamps and the Bassculture pickups just feel alive. Very responsive combination. I'm digging the front pickup in series and the bridge pickup in single coil. Like a big juicy P/J style. It cops more vintage tones to modern sounds with just a few flips of switches. These are really fantastic basses. It is my second Frog and doesn't disappoint.

Funny, that's exactly the combination I like on my Sandberg. Front pickup in series and bridge pickup in single coil mode. Delano humbuckers and Glockenklang preamp though, but yeah it gets you surprisingly close to a PJ sound.

Adrian likes using Bassculture pickups when encasing in woods. Delano extenders are more punchy and growly. Both are great. The Bassculture pickups are super quiet and very, very responsive and lively. I love them. I had the oval Delano's on my first Frog and thought they were great too. Hard to go wrong with either.

I had Haussel on my Jake P/J. Maybe it was the nature of that config but they were more noisy and definitely more vintage in sound. Haven't tried Haussel humbuckers yet.

I have Bassculture pu:s in my Jake 5P, and as scubaduba says they are dead quiet and very responsive. The split P is more on the bright side, the soapbar humbucker a little more mellow. On the downside I'd say they do not blend that well unless you have both on full volume, one of the PU:s tend to "take over" very quickly as soon as you lower the volume on the other. But I've found thats the way it goes when you have two different types of PU:s in a bass, if you want to blend as seamlessly as possible go for two PU:s of the same type. I tend to use one pickup at the time mostly so it's not a big issue for me, both sound very good used separately.

Thanks for the review on both pickup I was wondering about them too.
If you can, could you elaborate more on how their passive sound compare to each other?

Passive sound is great on both Delano and Bassculture. I don't have access to Delano's at the moment so can't do a direct comparison. I'd say if you want a smoother very dynamic sound go for the Bassculture. If you want punchy sort of growly sound go for the Delano's. I don't have a favorite. Both are real good and I'd be happy with either. If it were me and I wasn't going for wood covers I'd probably go with the oval Delano's because they look cool. :D But padouk covered pickups looks better.

Great looking bass @scubaduba congrats! My headless Frog will be very similar except it will have the 2 band Delano preamp, unpainted maple neck and of course missing a head :D! Other than that same color, bassculture pups and padouk fb....can't wait, hoping to have it in a couple of weeks. Will certainly post pics when she arrives... Enjoy yours and play the crap out of it!

Question:

I have a Frog that's still relatively new and hasn't seen much play time as there's an obvious back bow in the neck and it's too much for me to enjoy playing her.

Every time I try to adjust the truss rod, turning the key in the correct direction to straighten the neck, the back bow gets worse almost like I'm turning the key in the opposite direction.

Please keep in mind, I do minor set ups and neck adjustments on ALL my basses so I have a pretty good knowledge of how to get a neck, straight and flat.

I recently read that backing the truss rod all the way out and then back in, may allow for a correction. I'd rather not take it to my local luthier for an $85 neck adjustment fee.

Are any of you familiar with screwing the truss rod all the way out and then back in to correct a back bow?

Did you get the Frog through a Maruszczyk USA dealer? Probably contact the person, if so.

I remember seeing somewhere that you have to turn the key in the opposite direction from "normal" on Mensinger basses and I'm guessing that the same would apply to your Frog.....

I'd check with Adrian to be sure before taking my word for it first though....:)

@ Amajew, Thank you very much for that link, Freddy was correct ... It appears that the direction of the neck adjustment for my Frog is opposite then what I am used to on 99% of the other basses I own .... Can't wait to get home tonight and try that out. :hyper:

Both Frog's and the Jake I've had the truss rod tightens the opposite way. Looking down the neck from the body toward the headstock the rod tightens by turning toward the left. Not sure if that is true for all Maruszczyk basses or not though.
