I'm sorry to hear that. I feel for you. I have the same thing, but apparently not quite as advanced. Sucks.

Somebody buy that Saratoga on The Perfect Bass before I do something stupid. :D

And I hope you never get this advanced... I've had to turn down a couple gigs cause I'm trying to get this straightened out, and that's something I never thought I'd do....

Not mine, but I got to try out this MTD KZ5 in Bass Central last week. Impressive, definitely a step above my Artist 5. I can see it as a backup to my 535.

Man, I am really loving these MTD Kingstons. Played one at a Sam Ash the other day and the tone and playability is really impressive. Not to mention that it was light as a feather.

I'm thinking of getting one, just to have a more modern bass. I'm used to playing my Jazz bass and Lakland 55-02.

Does anyone know of the tone differences between the Z's and the Heir with a single humbucker? Or, is the Z capable of the same tones as the Heir?

Opinions welcome! :D

Stock Zs need electronics replaced. Stock are weak and very nasal sounding. Look around this thread as most guys upgrade to Nordstrand or Bartolini pickups and or Bartolini and Aguilar preamps or others.

I use a little tiny suction cup from the back of one of those things you hang in the shower to organize your soap and shampoo. Works like a charm.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of folks putting Nordstrand Big singles and Fat Stacks into the Z's.

I've also seen a few Heirs with Bartolini's. Would you say the Heir has better electronics than the Z?

I would probably replace the guts of either one - if I end up getting one.
