DANG that's a beautiful bass!!!!!! (wait... need more...) !!!!!!!!!! :D

SOOOOooooo.... Jpeeze...... where do you live and what hours do you normally work? ;)
:hiding:

my pics suck, but i've been playing it for the past 3 hours... :D it feels great, sounds huge...some things i've noted...you can really feel the grain of the ash, especially on the body...the slap ramp i'm going to have to get used to...i may just remove it...everything i've heard about ash necks on here is true...wenge without the choke...that's exactly what i'm hearing...the bass feels a little large to me, but i'm short, so...expected, i guess...it also has the buzz feiten on it, which i was told that it wasn't...not disappointed, but surprised...overall, very pleased...

jpeeze...that's just gorgeous

vic...you're outta bounds :D

Nice. :)

No way! Get outa' my way, lemme at that thing... :D

this thing really rocks..i love the 'steel on wood' sound i'm getting out of it...the b on this thing is awesome! it's not a 'roscoe' low b, but it's a lot more aggressive than the 535 i had...the ash/ash/maple recipe is great...this bass really talk to me...it's got a passive mode, too, which sounds ok solo, but not as good as the active circuit...i'm sure it would sound better passive in a band setting, because the barts are really great pickups...i think i might get a new head this weekend, too...i've heard that the shuttles are in locally...it sounds really great through the solid state side of my peavey, so i'm wondering if an F1 would work good with this...hmmm...

Man, that's a great lookin' bass... hey, on that ramp, if you take it off, is there another trussrod cover under there, or do you have another cover to put in its place?

thanks, bro...i'm going to take some higher res pics of it when i have time :D mike included the regular truss cover that comes on all mtd's in a little baggy...the ramp is screwed on through the holes that the normal truss cover would attach

Hmm what does the "slap ramp" do exactly, only ever seen on other of those before...

well, after messing around a little (i was so amazed at the finger style tone, i didn't slap for a while), i was playing some licks and the raised profile of the ramp kind of tames your plucking fingers by not letting you dig way in really deep...i've never used one before, and i thought i would try one on

Right, I saw the screws, just wondered if it was on top the other cover or in place of it. Way cool. :)

Am from Ms on the gulf coast A Katrina victim which is how I bought my bass.

I work 40 hr. a week at Mississippi power company Plant Jack Watson. Every eight weeks am on call which happens to be this week which means I belong to them when every they need me at anytime are day for 7 days that mean I can't go know where this week,so I will just stay at home play my bass until they need me hopefully they will leave me along.

That Jazz looks hawt, neptoon! To be honest, I am not a huge fan of that ramp, myself, but in all other respects, that looks like something that would really float my boat!

You and your bass are welcome at my house any time! :D Heck, you don't even have to come, if you don't want! We could work out a 'visitation' schedule... :ninja:

Tom.

I'm assuming they are because Bass Exchange has 2 of them. The Trans Black J5 is priced at low $3k and I forget what the J4 was priced at on their site.

I've heard some people say that Mike made some of the jazz basses, but he hasn't decided 100% if it's going to be a regular model yet. I really hope it's going to become a standard thing...I really dig the way they look, and I'm sure they play wonderfully!

to the best of my knowledge, the only MTD J-5s kickin' around are the proto-pack that Mike built for a few artists and NAMM.
