The Official MTD USA Thread

if you didn't pick your nose so much, scratch your ***, and wash your hands once in a while, they'd last a little longer. All those boogers just wreak havoc on the windings.

:D

MTD's last as well as the DR's I used for about 15 years. Wash your hands before you play, and wipe your strings off when you're finished.

Cheers,
Cameron

*mental note dont shake Pete's hand next time I see him.

I should be wiping them after I play, however I do wash my hands before I play...

I've used tons of MTD strings, and at least for me, they are some of the longest lasting SS strings I've used (including DR). Also, no matter what, they should definitely last a lot longer than nickel.

I wonder if maybe the previous owner played enough to require they be boiled/soaked and maybe he did that as a favor to you as the buyer and you're on the "second life" on them and just don't know it?

Otherwise, your comments are completely backwards from what I've experienced. Not sure if it helps, but at least I can say the MTD SS strings SHOULD last a lot longer than nickel anyway

Maybe it's me?
I have dry hands, and always wipe strings with clean towel after I play.

The brightness after 5-6 hours of playing was lacking.

Will try a set of nickels, just to see difference.
This is my first time using MTD strings.

The Bartolini pre-amp system Mr. T uses is extremely flexible; you can change the centre frequency and Q of any of the EQ by adding/subtracting certain resistors right on the pot itself. Get in touch with Mr. T and he'll probably send you some info on that - it might mean getting in touch with Bartolini as well, but I'm sure Mr. Tobias has most of that info tucked into that world-class brain of his.

Or, as suggested, just do it on the amp.

Cheers,
Cameron
Thanks Cameron, I'll open it up sometime and have a look. Sounds like it would be easy enough to add another 3-way switch and have the treble pot piped through 3 different resistors, the same way as the mid pot is probably done. Not saying I'll do it, due to resale value, but it's worth a look. :)

Cheers,

EG

OOOOHHHH...nice....pics are a must on this one.:hyper:

Yep I'm looking forward to getting it. Mike didn't have a true dark purple finish, but I'm sure he will come up with something awesome. I was pretty specific on how I wanted it to look and he said he could achieve it. The specs will be a maple burl top, tulipwood body, wenge neck and fb. More natural in the middle fading to a purple burst on the very edges. I emailed ABT today to get a status. The original tentative ship date was set for this week, but I know things go. So … I wait … patiently.:D

Can someone please buy it quickly, so that I don't! ;)

Beautiful Bass! I have the exact wood combination as this bass and it is a great all around bass … covers all styles well. Pic attached ... I've had it going on three years now.
