The Official MTD USA Thread

I actually have an Heir 5 on the way to test out as a backup. If the neck profiles are similar, and the spacing feels good, it shouldn't be bad to have while I early (and evily!) plot my next MTD...
:ninja:
Which of course you MUST post here about, so none of that ninja crap... fess up beeyotch... :D

Hehehehe...

I think I'm going for sure with the wood construction of your red one we've discussed.
I like the sound of what it should "sound" like, more focused and aggressive.

Ash+maple on the neck, ash body+maple top.

I'm probably going to go with an ultra-striated flamed top (if Mike has or can get one).

I like the finish on your red one, but I honest to goodness love how these Rodmans turn out. I think either a red/blue/red or blue/red/blue would be excellent!

Well MTD players Its back up for sale.

I was wondering if anybody was interested in buying my 635 MTD. It has a 10 walnut top ash body and neck .It has a birdeye maple finger board, and sounds amazing. I put it up for sale twice and change my mine. I never own a bass that sound so good . The only reason am selling this bass is because my hands are so small, and I just can not get around on it like I can a 5string. I have had it for about 5 months. I bought it new from Mike thought Glenn at Austin bass traders. I am trying to get the same wood configure as the 635 but in a five string . I am hoping and praying that I can get the same tone on which ever one I choose to buy if you are interested please e-mal me.

My 735 arrived yesterday ....:hyper:

Awsome bass all around and incredible to play ... great tone!

Vic, I know what you mean about the wenge/wenge neck/fb. It is a lot different .... it's a lot brighter than my maple/rosewood and my ash/macassar ebony.

Will provide some pics soon.

Hey, anybody got a hand stretcher ... geezzz I need a boat to get across this fretboard :D

Well...until VERY recently!!! I've finally completed my purchase of my first-ever MTD. It was on my short list for several years, but every time I bought a bass, the MTDs always got pushed down to #2. Well, NO MORE!!! About 90 minutes ago I left Luthiers Access Group with a bass Dan is cursing me for taking off his hands! He even told me he'd only sell it to me if I promise to give him right-of-first refusal if I EVER decide to part with it.

Anyway, I haven't had time to take pictures of it, but I'm going to borrow pictures of this bass of the LAG website...it's the exact bass, 'cept it now has my home as background instead of Dan's...:D

Thus far, I can honestly say it's seriously got me jonesing to play it, and I'm not a fretless player (well, at least until 90 minutes ago;)). It's pretty light-weight, really rich sounding, etc...you know...okay, now for the "stolen" pix...

Specs:
Flamed redwood top and matching headstock
Honduran rosewood fingerboard
Mahogany body
Maple neck
FRETLESS 2 octave fingerboard (!!!)

It's my first fretless ever, so I hope you'll forgive me...I'm a litle more jazzed than usual. :D

That is one killer MTD. It is probably the nicest MTD I've ever seen. I would love to hear some sound clips if thats possible. I would also love to see some more pics.

Andrew Gouche has one like this. I have played it, and the tone is to die for. He told me that he is torn between this one and a tulip wood 535 that he has. I have a clip of him playing it, but I don't know how to download it. If you really need it, I could copy my disc and mail it to you.

WOW!! Congrats!! That is some killer Redwood...
