The Official MTD USA Thread

What do you guys use for stands? I usually play 2 MTD's at gigs and I don't like to use my Warwick Rockstand as it's difficult to set the MTD in place given the angle of the input jack. I saw a Hercules stand today that fits 3 guitars and that seems like it fits the bill.

Do you guys have any other recommendations?

That is the exact stand I use and love em. In my opinion, it’s the most stable stand I’ve used and since it hangs it doesn't sit on any cords or interfere with input jacks. I like the double because it’s stable with one of two basses on it. I haven’t tried a triple yet but something tells be it might be a little unstable with only one bass on it. I could be wrong. My 635s just barley fit into the hanger slot …. The 735? …. Well …. I’m gonna have to modify the stand (spread the holder open) a little or find another stand to use for it. Right now until I get a little more comfortable with the 735 …. I don’t think it’s going to any gigs just yet.:eyebrow:

I like the hercules stands that hold the bass by the headstock.
+1

I do use the rockstands too, but it is a bit of a challenge to get it set securely in place with the strap and cable in place without interfering or having it teeter. Herc is best.

I also have the Hercules stand, the one that holds two basses, and I use it to hold both of my MTD's (the 535 and the JJ). The only time the Hercules stands are not good is when you are on a tight stage. The legs, when open cover about a 2 foot space. For those situations, I use a mini Hercules stand, that you sit your bass on. The downside of that stand is that if you play a Skjold (92 offset), the support bracket turns your eq knob when you place the bass on the stand. You have to remember to turn the eq to the setting you had when you resume playing.

Or if you're an idiot like me and bring 3 basses to some gigs. :D

thats happened to me before with the mini stand as well...the other problem I have with it is I have a few basses that are not exactly rounded at the bottom. So the hercules stand is the only way to go,,,on this weekends gig which was tight on space I used the single stand and just moved it when we were playing then stuck it infront of my amp with the bass on it during the breaks,,,kept my back up bass in the gig bag.

I rarely take 3 basses.....usually just 2.

I just have to flash this again... Not enough flashing going on!

(Sadly the trade never went through...)

EDIT: as you can see I'm pretty useless with lighting and photography in general - I apologise.

Yeah, they're really very different instruments, which is why we partitioned the threads this way. Anyway, that other thread is great and I guarantee you'll enjoy it. Peace.
