The Official MTD USA Thread

I just have to flash this again... Not enough flashing going on!

(Sadly the trade never went through...)

EDIT: as you can see I'm pretty useless with lighting and photography in general - I apologise.
Apology not accepted. You'll have to convince the current owner to send me the bass so I can take decent pictures of it and repost. :ninja: ;) :D
:hiding:

P.S. Seriously tho, sorry the trade didn't work out for you. :(

Here's a question for everybody.

Why so few 435's?? I have one, and I know TomB has several, but for the most part, I see far more 5's and 6's, and of course the beautiful new 735 of jhh01 (congratulations btw!). Is it just the old "4 Strings vs. 5+ Strings" debate? I myself would love to have a 535, but at the time I purchased my bass, I was in greater need of a 4-string.

Discuss.:D

One audition of the B string on a 535, my friend, and your curiosity will be well satisfied as to why so many of those vs the 4 bangers. :)

Also, I'm pretty sure Tom only has two... not several... but give him time. :D

What the heck, might as well throw some up too.. :p

lots of pics to make sure some were good enough to be shared...
STUNNING!

Ok, lemme take a whack at this, 'cause I always like to know the configs... two 535/21's with the wenge/wenge neck, maple burl top, but is one alder or are they both tulip bodies? Just different finish colors and one with a TR cover matching the top?

That last one kills me... is that a Marylin with a chambered alder body? Noting the classic double lams and the body appears a little thicker. Otherwise, looks like a big flamed redwood top and maple/rosewood neck.

How close am I? :)

I think I've said it before, but if so, I'll say it again. I'm not really a fan of buckeye burl, but that bass is beautiful. That is the ONE buckeye burl bass I actually seriously dig the looks of. The BEM board I think helps a lot, as well as the specific figuring and color of that top. Nice!

MAN I love these basses!!! There's just something about Mike's designs, finish, wood selection, tone, playability... I know we spend big coin to get into these, but it still feels like I'm lucky or privileged to own them. They feel like magic in my hands. As much as these "hurt" to purchase, I've NEVER had the classic buyer's remorse I typically have after dropping large on a "luxury item" like this.

Very close, but to be really accurate:

1st is an 535 ash body, maple burl top, wenge neck & board, dark cherry finish, all matching.

2nd is a 535 tulipwood body, maple burl top, wenge neck & board, red to yellow fade, all matching except TR cover which matches neck wood.

3rd is an 535-24 alder chambered body w/ multiple veneers, flamed redwood top, maple neck & honduran rosewood board, all matching.

I gotta second this-
I never really even hesitated to get this MTD once I knew it was new and was going to be perfect, as opposed to the other one I had.

So I gotta ask, do you have a favorite?

PS-All stunning by the way!!!:hyper:

I agree 100%!

Hey Jazzy Grille....I like your bass haha.....mine is #1705....what incredible instruments...though I'll admit I am having a tough time with the 19mm string spacing. my hands are so small...and I am used to a Stingray5...if I don't get better with it I might consider the unthinkable......gulp

;)

That's a nice looking bass you got there...

Give it a little bit, it took me a bit to get used to the feel of an MTD... Problem is once you get used to it you just can't have enough... :o
