The Official MTD USA Thread

With the different trials that my family has been through in the last 3 years (including financial) I never thought I would own another MTD again. Needless to say, I'm blessed to own the following basses. Just wanted to share some examples from who I consider to be the finest luthier around today.
Awesome. :)

roger that! ;) the jj5 is a great bass...just too huge for me...when i heard downsized jazz, it was something that i really wanted to fall for, but it didn't happen...i swear, though, i really don't get the 'smaller sonic footprint' comment i keep hearing...with my LMII and accugroove el whappo, that bass sounded HUGE to me...at least it's found a great home...enjoy it, man!

Thanks...I plan on it!

I know what you're saying about the "smaller sonic footprint" comment. It really is a huge bass, but I think it might be more focused. I know that I never found a problem with my 535 sitting in any mix, but whatever.

Its my first time to post here about MTD. I can finally say I have an MTD of my own.

This bass is known as the 'Clone Bass', made for Norm Stockton as a clone/backup for his main MTD 535. I got this bass from Norm and gave it a full test drive last weekend.

I played it on 4 gigs and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I got to play it with a variety of playing situations and almost every kind of music. The best part is that the bass worked out really well for the kind of music I planned to play it most....my regular Sunday church gigs (Christian contemporary and latin music). It sounds really different from the regular bolt-on/single-coil bass that I use but I can't complain since the sound that this bass brings is different and huge!

That is AWESOME! I wish I could get him to play mine and show me a few things in person. :)

Mike,

So that is Serial number #1250 listed on his website? Very cool. Hope he treated you fair on the price and didn't charge extra for the Norm Mojo, although it is probably worth a bit extra for that:). I thought I saw that listed somewhere but didn't persue it.
