The Official MTD USA Thread

Here is a nice clip of Gouche, Peric and Bubby jamming at the MTD booth ( I'm not sure if it was posted)

Anyone know what bass peric is playing? Looks like the J model Michael tobias does with a 535 body and extended cutaway? Are my eyes decieving me? Anyone have info on these?

Jon

PS: peric's slap technique is FRESH! I'm also digging bubbys new bass!

You forgot to post the link!

I have not seen one single 4 string in this thread
WHAT GIVES
He makes them. Both 34" and 35" scales, but he just doesn't get many orders for them. I can tell you from personal experience they're just as amazing as their 5 and 6 string brethren, but personally, I can't justify that high end of a 4 string since I rarely play them. Gotta' have my B. Maybe that's why for others, too?

agree.
All my basses are 5 strings, and IMO 5 strings gives the most comfort in playing..not too less not too much.

I figure the relatively small number of 435s/434s probably has something to do with the kind of people who are attracted to MTDs. I've always associated MTDs with "modern tone" and music styles such as fusion and gospel (styles that seem to be dominated by ERBs). Of course, there's also the fact that Mike just became so well known for his 535s - it's no wonder the 4 stringers got left to the side. I have to say, my 535 was not my first 5 string, but it is the bass that converted me to five strings. It is the most comfortable bass I've ever played, regardless of the number of strings. In addition, I used to think I preferred 4 stringers for slap - until I played the 535. This is the first bass I've owned/played that felt as if it was custom made to fit me. Thanks for the magic, Mike!

Hi t0t0m,

Well nice bass, I own almost the same one except it is 21 frets.

The finish on mine is the same as yours, and I've noticed the same thing on the red parts of the finish: a kind of "fog" trapped inside the finish at some places on the body. Is it wear cause by a daily use or you bought it "as is"?
