The Official MTD USA Thread

I'm mostly familiar with Kingston series 5's, and by comparison the necks on those seem a little bit chunkier than this one was. Is that typical?
Yes. At least in my experiences. The asym profile is a little different on the Kingstons. I noticed it on the Z6 I had for a while. The USA models always felt better. As a hand made instrument, they'll vary somewhat, but still always felt better to me.

heavily gassin for one. i'm actually going on a trip to the US (Newark) in a week for work, maybe I'll get to play one or even bring back one :)

minor question: are there usually fret markers on the side of the neck? i now have a corvette with a maple board, and even with the markers on the side i get lost sometimes during gigs (when there is bad light...)

Yes, it is standard for MTDs to have side position markers. Lately Mike has been using Luminlay markers on his U.S. models which can make it that much easier to see the markers in low lighting situations. Have a fun visit to the U.S. By the way, it might be worth checking on a list of retailers who carry American-made MTDs since relatively few music shops stock them.

I'm back on the battery tester question for the MTDs. I'm wondering if I can just make a pigtail 1/4inch plug and just use a voltage meter to test the batteries.
I actually answered this not too long ago in this thread. :)

Yes, but you have to use a stereo one. I contacted them to verify.

Got to play my MTD on my church rig today and sounded good in the mix. I had to do some playing around with the EQ on my amp rig but got it to sound close to want I;m looking for.

I'll play around with it a little more when I'm there by myself. Here a pic of it at church today.

Out of curiousity, what EQ adjustments did you find yourself making? What wasn't the bass giving you when set flat that you were wanting to hear?

As you see I have alot of EQ in my rack so I have to see which ones not to use. I'm going to start with the basic Sansamp and Mackie and maybe my compressor. When I played it with my giging rig ( Markbass Combo ) it sound real good so I guessing I have to much EQ at church. Once I get it right I'll do a sound clip.

It's finally here!!:hyper:
MTD 535-24 #2050 Flamed ash/black limba/wenge/BEM.
Its everything i ever dream in an MTD, punchy, sweet bright, tight low end.

I seem to be saying this a lot lately when it comes to MTDs but that is beautiful looking! Very distinctive in an understated way. Love the ash top, and the black limba body. Kind of reminds me of mine, except that yours is even nicer!

Thanks!! For a while I thought that was mine LOL. It looks almost identical to mine. What's the top and fingerboard on that one?
