The top is macassar ebony and the fingerboard is wenge. I love the sound of this bass - very rich and warm (and punchy!). Here's a front shot:

Really? I think yours is stunning as it is - an outstanding combination with that spalted/quilt maple top and the BEM fingerboard. One of the nicest MTDs I've seen - and that's saying a lot!
But don't get me wrong - I love my ebony beauty!

MTD 535-24 #2050 Flamed ash/black limba/wenge/BEM.
Its everything i ever dream in an MTD, punchy, sweet bright, tight low end.

Thanks, I'll try to let it grow on me. If it wasn't for the sound of it it would be gone for a darker wood.

But seriously, it's too bad you're not as taken with the look of the bass as I'm sure some of the folks here are. I guess it doesn't matter what other people think if you're not satisfied but man, that is a GREAT looking MTD! I hope it does grow on you visually, especially since you seem to like the sound of it so much.

You guys are right, my last two basses were darker and I will have to give it time to adjust. I can alway get a can of stray paint. Just kidding. It will be going to it first gig Saturday so I'll really find out if it going to be my main bass and thanks for all the complement.

Zounds! Yet another incredible looking MTD! This page is like Christmas without the bills! Wow. I've never seen a myrtle top like that. Makes me think of molten gold (not that I've actually ever seen molten gold, mind you). Crazy.

Ooooohhhh, my favorite MTD neck. Same as mine, including the logo.635. Ash neck, birdseye board, purple heart or bloodwood ramp, gold hardware, and I've got the globe logo too. It may not be a unique wood combo but it'll sure as hell look unique!
And I'm a sucker for a great quilt top, and ash is my fave body wood too. That bass is gonna' be mind blowing.
