That AG is nice!!
Oh I see. But I was reffering to the maple/rosewood combo in general and also the MTD.Im speaking of a maple neck, not board...i definitley change my
attack a bit when dealing with
maple.... Are you reffering to the maple/rosewood combo in general or on an MTD...?..its very different going through MTD electronics...there's a pretty good sound example on YouTube from Korea, I believe where the guy plays four or five MTDs with different wood combos...its one of the better sound samples out the IMO...wish I could find the link...

"Pistachio top on a walnut body with a flamed ash neck, titanium rod inserts and a pistachio finger board. Clear and articulate strong piano like attack."

Congratulations - that is a fine looking MTD!Well, I just received my MTD Norm Stockton Saratoga and it is a very cool bass. I love the versatility of it; being able to switch from dual to single coils in each pickup allows for so many different tones. The color seems to change depending on the light that is on it. It is a very nice bass. I am extremely happy with it.
Not a fan of the maple board? If only the wood specs could be changed around.....I'd grab one for sure...
Not a fan of the maple board?
Not with alder, no....I'd also want a different top wood and I'd want it in a natural finish..
That's an excellent suggestion...thanks, bruh...!After all this time I'm just now realizing that bass has an alder body - I had just assumed it was ash.
It wouldn't be the same thing but you could get pretty close to what you want with a custom Saratoga - pick out whatever wood specs you want and instead of the standard J pickups get it with the Super 5 electronics. Not exactly the same as the Stockton electronics but you'd have switchable dual/single coils and a very similar preamp. I think the only difference would be the EQ points.
I had the chance to play one of each. I personally don't like the Aguilar preamps - lots of lows and highs but too much missing in between. The Nordstrand-equipped Saratoga I played sounded nice but it was a bit... characterless (if that's the right term). That's not a bad thing but the bass didn't sound much to me like an MTD. Nice option though if you want everything else an MTD has to offer (aside from the more-or-less signature tone).I noticed on the latest Saratoga basses, in addition to the Bartolini preamp/pickups, there's also an option for Aguilar or Nortdstrand preamp/pickups.
Does anyone know how the three differ sound wise?
Very nice looking bass...what are the specs..?This should be arriving and in my hands early next week. I have been thinking/wanting a USA Saratoga for sometime.
