The Official MTD USA Thread

Looking for the "other tone in my head"...which I'm not the best at articulating with words. But, I'm hoping the roasting will open up the top end a little, yet still give me a tighter focus/edge than my alder body AG...

Also, I have back issues and Mike thought he could get the weight down a little for me, with a well-chosen piece of ash...roasted.

Are you going with swamp ash?

Nice! That will end up being pretty similar to mine - only difference is mine has an ash neck vs. your maple neck. But both are red nara with ash body and roasted BEM:

Hey, really appreciate your pre/post pics! They give me a much better idea how Red Narra reacts to finishing...

Your previously posted bass pics actually inspired me to do a build using Red Narra...so thanks!

Yeah - the red narra is unique. Even the completed bass looks different depending on the lighting - sometimes it looks more red and sometimes more brown. It's also really tough to photograph the figure in it, because it only pops out at certain angles. The narra he's using on yours is really beautiful!

Wow! Check out this incredible bass (and others) recently uploaded on the website...

Per MTD: AG6 SYNTH "Trans black Maple Burl top on alder body with a maple neck, a bloodwood fingerboard and on board Roland BG3. Embodies the classic Andrew Gouche signature sound with the versatility of the Roland synth system."

Unfortunately...not mine

I have an MTD Kingston AG6 and am having fits with the input jack, my cord comes out way too easily. I barely have to move sometimes and my plug comes flying out ... and we all know what kind of great noise that makes!!! Is there a mod for this? A fix, or has anybody else fixed this by changing to another jack type, or ... ??? I am open to suggestions ... love this bass but this is driving me crazy!! Thx!

What I do with my 535 is wrap the cable around the bottom of my strap once or twice before plugging it in...you, of course, have to have more than enough cable to move around to avoid any disaster as well as leave a bit of slack in the cable near the input jack..when something starts to pull on the cable.., it'll tug on the strap instead (and will get your attention as well)..I'm a vintage Fender guy at heart, so the side jack took some getting used to for me...

Very nice! That looks a lot like one of my 535's:

Hey folks! I am recording my album that contains the original songs from 1984 to 2015. Today I started to record the bass parts and after trying a bunch of different basses I finally took my old MTD535 and WOW! What a sound! It has 6 months old Thomastik Infield strings but it still sounds amazing through the Classic Api di/preamp and Lynx converter straight to the computer. Couldn't resist and uploaded a small sample of a recorded demo part. Enjoy my beloved MTD sound! :)
