Hi Kev, The AG6 is surely killing! The Norm is on another tone world, glassy treble and HUGE DEEP low. You'll love it.Wow, that's a great duo! I have an AG6 also, but I'd sure love to have a wenge neck'd MTD some day...congrats!
UPDATE: My 1995 MTD 535 Korina body, Wenge neck/fingerboard with the 19mm bridge spacing remains unchanged!! After talking with the technician at the guitar shop it was decided that the bridge change to this bass was not in the best interest for this bass.
Now, who needs a brand new Hipshot Style B .708?![]()
I am interested why it was not in the best interest for your 535... because I am considering the same thing—replace the original 19 mm with a 18 mm bridge.UPDATE: My 1995 MTD 535 Korina body, Wenge neck/fingerboard with the 19mm bridge spacing remains unchanged!! I knew of someone asking him maybe this time last year and he said that he would...no more Audi redwood though...I actually think he got dibs on that specific stash of redwood and Audi bought the rest and put it into their steering wheels and dashboards...mahogany and ebony sound wonderful though and I'm sure whatever redwood he has will work..it just won't be that "blackened water cured" whatever...Just curious if anyone has information on the marilyn series basses? Interested in your experience tone gig wide etc. One of interest. Chambered mahogany body, Audi redwood burl top, ebony board maple neck, piezo system. Does Mike still make these?
Carlis, there were a couple of concerns that I had to consider: 1) the replacement bridge is smaller than the installed one, which would leave some wood finishing work to do. 2) the tone of the bass would be altered, either to my liking or not. 3) a resale would be impacted since MTD basses are known for being 19MM. 4) do I really want to make this change to this bass(?).I am interested why it was not in the best interest for your 535... because I am considering the same thing—replace the original 19 mm with a 18 mm bridge.
Look at MTD web site. Tag Marilyn , and mine will appear. Just what Mike described. Acoustic, and focused. My best bass!Just curious if anyone has information on the marilyn series basses? However, the technician did suggest looking for 18mm saddles to fit the current bridge, which I will do, but not change out the bridge.
1) Enough to be a concern. 2) None the less a change. 3) It's not worth all the re-drilling nor the extra expense.1) barely as in negligible. 2) Not if it's an aluminum bridge like the original. 3) keep the 19mm bridge and reinstall it before you post it for sale.
Isn't it just a hipshot B style bridge that can be easily replaced with another one of a different spacing configuration?Carlis, there were a couple of concerns that I had to consider: 1) the replacement bridge is smaller than the installed one, which would leave some wood finishing work to do. 2) the tone of the bass would be altered, either to my liking or not. 3) a resale would be impacted since MTD basses are known for being 19MM. 4) do I really want to make this change to this bass(?).

It's probably "Rudy" the name of the guitar shop.I found that theres a name inside the trussrod cover. I cant make out what it says, but does mike sign these?

Mine is 1995. The new Hipshot Style B .708 is not the same size nor have the same mounting holes configuration as the type of bridge that's on this bass. From what I understand the newer 535 basses are using Hipshot Style B bridges. If you own a model with a Hipshot Style B 19mm I would think your concerns are different from mine.Isn't it just a hipshot B style bridge that can be easily replaced with another one of a different spacing configuration?
