I'm not really set on a Jazz, which is why I'm switching to MTD after the bad experience. If I had had a good experience with Sadowsky, MTD would've been next, a few years later. I'm just jumping ahead on the list.

My only concern, having not yet talked to Michael, is the nut width. The price list says a 435(34) has a 1 & 11/16" nut. That's wider than a Precision, which I don't find very comfortable. Will they be willing/able to do a 434 with a 1 & 1/2" nut?

Huh. Never realized that. While I am not entirely comfortable with 24 frets, I find everything about this.neck very comfortable. Fits in the hand like.a glove....very Jazz bass like. Slim and fast. And I am J bass 1.5' nut kinda guy.

Actually, I find the Sadowsky to be chunkier and fuller than the MTD. Not in a bad way...Sadowsky four string is comfy....but not..svelte.

Would it be appropriate to share the issue you experienced with your Sadowsky?

Anyone know what the weight and balance difference is between a 535 and 635? For arguments sake they are both made of the same wood combo. I want to try a 635 but, not sure if it’s a good idea. Or of I’ll get enough use out of the C string. Especially if it’s not well balanced, like my Warwick NT6 Thumb.

I don't have a 535 to compare to, but my 635 in the post above balances incredibly well; as well as any bass I've owned, 6 or not, and weighs about 10.5 lbs.

I had one of those (13 lbs) and also have an 11lb Streamer Stage II 6-string - no comparison with the 635 really. 635 has a much slimmer neck back to front and probably a longer upper horn. Those factors and others equate to great balance ☺️

Measured my 434 nut. It's 1.5" :) BTW, isn't a P-Bass 1 & 12/16"?

Depending on the year/model, they mostly varied between 1.62" and 1.75", with the majority being 1.62". I think in the 70's there was an "A" neck that was the J width of 1.5 at the nut, but those are in very limited numbers.
