The Official Peavey Thread!!!!

Peavey have alot of great looking basses(havent played to many...) and some great sounding Amps(preferably the old ones),

i would realy like to try the new Zodiac bases(especially the one wich is Elefsons sig.. it looks amazing... looks slightly inspired by Phil Lynotts last bass though(Roland synth bass i believe?)

- Ugly.

I have had:
-- a mahogany Patriot. I got it for $90 from a housemate who had filed the frets down to the board. It served well as a beater fretless--I checked it as luggage in the molded Peavey case and played it at the NXNW and SXSW festivals, never had a problem. Light body, quick neck, good-sounding Super-Ferrite pickup
--Maple Cirrus 6--great bass but just too big for me at the time so I traded it for
--Redwood Cirrus Fretless 5 #1--Wonderful bass, but developed a crack in the neck laminates down by the nut (I read of other TBers with this problem). Peavey replaced the whole bass under warranty at no charge (but not without sending my original replacement bass to someone else, causing me to wait another two months before getting)
--Redwood Cirrus fretless 5 #2--equally sweet, but it caused me to realize a 35" fretless is just a wee bit to big for me. I sold it several weeks ago to get a 34" fretless Stambaugh 4 which suits me better
--TKO 65 amp--Ugh...sounded horrible with stock speaker, heavy for its size! Boxy, cardboardy midrange, innards rattled loudly. Had a persistent problem with the DDT compression that a trip home to Meridian, MS did NOT fix...sounded better with an EV 15B speaker but all in all I was glad to be rid of this amp. Much happier with the GK 400RB I got to replace it.

I have been quite impressed with the Dyna Bass, Millenium, and Palaedium basses as well as the smaller combos (Minx, MicroBass).

I've always had Peavey amplification. Had a TNT, Megabass and 1516 cab, and a Sessionbass head. The TMax head was one of the best i ever tried. My 410TX still rules. I like their high end basses but don't like the tight string spacing at the neck. I had a USA Millenium 5 that was so sweet but I had to let it go because of the neck.
