I've been playing a lot of gigs with mine when playing in tight spaces (2 out of three this past weekend), and might try those tuners. Also FYI Hipshot told me this when I asked about a drop d extender: The GB7 will fit this bass.

I have had mine for a while and it still has the factory strings on it because I am a chicken and don't want to change the sound!!!!

So finally found that it wasn't the bridge at all that made my 'Kat buzz. I had some loose pole pieces on the humbuckers (never had a bass with these type). Tightened those screws a tad and took care of the problem. A YouTube rabbit hole got me into looking at all the tone variations you can get with Gibson/Epiphone humbuckers with all the possible adjustments.

Came across this beauty on Musicgoround, it’s currently on its way to me from Colorado and I am incredibly stoked. I’ve been wanting a short scale bass for a while, and this bass just seems like a fun ride so I went with it.

For the past 3 months I have been really loving this bass. The neck is super comfortable and surprisingly fast. I installed a set of GHS Balanced Nickels on it and it’s just stellar. The bridge pickup is really punchy and the neck pickup is pure dub goodness!

The only other changes I’ve made were a new set of pickup rings and new Hipshot tuners. I got lucky and scored a cheap set off Hipshot’s scratch-n-dent store.

The only complaint I have is that Epiphone needs to release these in more colors! A goldtop would look slick! 😀

Hey everyone, just picked up a rumblekat and am planning to do a few mods. I was wondering about changing the nut to a bone nut, but I’ve never had a nut changed out before. Is there a specific type of bone nut I should buy that fits the rumblekat?

I already got some hipshot ultralite 3/8 tuners on the way, so I’ll be putting those on as well.

Question: if I'm not afraid to drill/plug the holes on my rumblekat any reason I can't throw a fender style bridge (i.e. badass or kickass) if the string spacing is appropriate?

Yeah the curved top isn't ideal for a flat body-mounted bridge. I had the Hipshot Supertone 3-point bridge on my Rumblekat for a bit (also intended to be body-mounted) and it required some shimming to fit the curved top. Not really recommended IMO

I put one on the Epi Jack Casady and it didn't fit correctly and started pulling out. Also didn't fit a flat bridge on a curved body. It is at the luthier now being refitted with original bridge. Funny, I have a Rumblekat with basically the same factory Gibson style bridge as the JC and I never have any issues with it. Don't change it if you don't have to!!!!

I have the same Hipshot on my Casady bass now and dig it on there, but I used some metal spacer hardware to suspend it over the body. Definitely wouldn’t direct mount it, and again probably not recommended for the typical user!

It’s a great bass. Maybe they weren’t selling well. Sorry to see it go (though now it becomes a collectible, right?)
