I purchased this Rumblekat and case in like new condition. Great bass.
The previous owner installed the Hipshot bridge and included the stock bridge. He also included a new set of Hipshot tuners that I will probably install in the future.
He also included a new set of D'Addario Chromes that I’m putting on in a bit.
Question about the pickups:
Should they be close to equal volume? The neck is quieter than the bridge. I have the neck at 4/32 and the bridge at 3/32–pressing down at the last fret.

Nice score, @MdC64 . Those Hipshot bridges are great. On mine, the pickups seem pretty balanced, But I get the loudest total volume if I have the neck all the way up, and the bridge pickup rolled back just a tad from full-on. For some reason, that maximizes loudness on mine.

I even found a pair of new in package gold Dunlop strap locks in the case compartment.
The Hipshot bridge is real nice. I also have a Jack Casady bass. I changed the tuners to Grovers but the bridge, etc is all stock.
I was looking forward to using the Hipshot on the Rumblekat.
I appreciate the pickup advice. After I installed the Chromes, I raised the neck pickup to 3/32 and its volume improved and is a bit closer to the bridge pickup. I didn’t want to raise it much more because I don’t know how much more wiggle room I have.
Anyway, it’s my first short scale and is a cool little bass. I have a couple shows this weekend and will be jamming it for sure.
The Rumblekat was a lot of fun to play this past weekend. Sounded so nice. It is such a smooth playing bass. Wow!

I jam with a couple of girls that play the ukulele around the Albuquerque area.
I usually play my large bass guitars for a couple sets then bring out the Fender uke bass.
Anyway, I mentioned that the seller included Hipshot tuners. The stock are fine and stayed in tune well but were a little stiff.
Those of you that use Hipshots, did you change out the bushings or just drop in the tuners with the original bushings? Thanks.

I don't have a Rumblekat at the moment. But I do have a story that may warm the hearts of you Rumblekat fans.
About eight or ten years ago I came across a used 2003 Rumblekat in beautiful condition here in my town. I had never even tried one, but always been intrigued by their looks and unusual pickup placement.
I think it may have been on consignment at my favorite local music store. It was priced a fair amount below what I thought it might be worth. So in a move unlike my usual approach, I bought it on impulse.
I got it it home, cleaned it up just a bit, and played it quite a while. It sounded great, but just never seemed like "The One" for me.
So a few weeks later I put it up for sale on eBay. It "Sold" at my asking price within a day or so. To my surprise the buyer was a guy from my small-ish town. He and I made arrangements to meet so he could pick it up.
When we met, he opened the case and smiled. Then he told me:
"A couple of days after I put it up on consignment I regretted it. I went back to get it, but it had sold. I never thought I'd see it again. Yet here it is."
Even with a history of 100+ guitar/bass sales, I don't think I've ever felt better about a sale!

Has anyone replaced the output jack plate on the Epiphone Rumblekat with a metal plate?
I contacted a YouTube guy that reviewed the bass and the popular Amazon plates don’t fit. He has not been able to find one.

Looks like this subforum has been quiet for some months, gonna see if I can revive it. Just got a RumbleKat today, from the serial number its from the South Korea plant, made in 2003, production #2607. In pretty near mint condition, body is perfect, just some signs of its age on the pickups. Working my way through the forum to get myself up to speed....photo of course, I know the TB rules!

Question for the Rumblekat herd - looking for gig bag recommendations. Mine was supposed to come with one, but instead it came in a full-size bag (like for a P bass), ao that's not gonna work. I've been looking at the Sire Model U (see this one), but open to other options. Not interested in the hard case.

I don't have any particularly wise advice here. I use a regular ol' bass gig bag, I think it's a RoadRunner. Works fine for my needs.
Thx! Loving this bass so far. Had a chance to do a rehearsal today with the bass and it sounded and felt great! It came with roundwounds (which I hate) so I threw on an old set of LaBella Tapewounds and they are perfect. They were long scale so I had to be careful, but I'll only use them temporarily until I can get a proper set of short scale flats.

This thread doesnt seem to be very active, but hoping that someone will see this and chime in. Just changed the strings on my Kat (GR Precision flats) and noticing that the tuners are pretty loose and sloppy. I see that many have switched out the tuners for Hipshot ultralites - will that help with the tuners being a bit tighter? I dont care so much about weight, I used a wide strap and neck dive is not an issue - but will change them out if it will help with tuner "slop"
I didn’t replace them on mine, so I don’t have a direct answer. But is there any tightening you can do, to your tuners themselves? I don’t have mine any more so I can’t look and see myself.
