Just picked up this 1973 Jazz Bass. It's been stripped and has a BadAssII bridge as well as I believe to be EMG JV pickups with the BTC preamp. You can tell it's authentic from the 70's Fender neck pocket gap. Since it's already been heavily modified I'm thinking of getting passive pickups and a drop active/passive preamp such as a J-Retro or Audere.View attachment 5432774 View attachment 5432775 View attachment 5432776

I just got a 1973 Jazz and it has a beefy neck. Not quite a P bass but def not a thin Jazz like my Geddy Lee signature.

This just arrived today and I'm loving it. It's the lightest bass I own and it feels lovely in my hands. Now I just need to practice to nail down my intonation.

Picked up this off reverb a couple of weeks ago.

The seller, a alleged semi pro musician had overtightened the truss rod to the point of lacquer cracks appearing on the rear of the neck (not pictured in the listing of course) So before anything she paid a visit to my tech for some TLC.
Cracks repaired and buffed out
Action lowered to how I like it
3 String tree added
I love the pickups though they are super low output (5.8k & 5.4K) but sound fantasic through my EVO III 500
Both sets of controls are super responsive.
Replaced the bridge with Fender HiMass model with brass saddles
Fender flatwounds fitted
She weighs in at 9Lbs 8ozs and is slightly neck heavy.
I may replace the neck with a Telecaster bass neck if there are any problems going forward (I think the Telecaster would better suit this design).

The only real minor negative is the body depth, its really annoying that squiers don't have full depth bodies but my Harley Benton versions do

I have a real 1952 P bass. The pickup is 5.6k and i don't find it has a weak output at all. A little lower than a modern bass but still loud

I love low output pickups. I started winding my own guitar pickups during lockdown here in the UK and have had moderate success with them (yet to try winding bass pickups). My main guitars 3 x PRS SE Bernie Marsdens with a 7.2k neck & 7,4k bridge in them always gets people asking about the pickups whenever we do gigs

So #31 is being modded added new Fender Jazz knobs, nut, and Fender pure vintage 66 pickups. The new Fender high mass bridge is on back-order
new strings arrived today hopefully ready for my next gig on 5-25 Still debating on whether I will add the ash tray to finish the vintage look or not?
