It's the Squier CV. Its a LOT of bass for less than 500 bucks.

Great. Unfortunately no store in my vicinity has one in stock, although one has the Fender Vintera version, might give that one a try and order the Squier...
Clips I've seen show it has a great sound, not as versatile as a P, but loads of low end.
They're around the €500-mark here in the EU.

My old passive Ibby GSR200 (1999 version).
2nd bass I bought, had it made fretless back in 2012.
I prefer the passive models over the newer ones with the active bassboost, turning your sound to mud.

As much as I love my Fender Ps, single coil and split coil..................I have to admit that this is my easiest bass to play bass. It's the neck.

I've since changed the electronics slightly. Changed the selector switch to a blend pot. So, it is now V, B, T.

Found it used on C. List about 20 years ago. $450

I haven't looked at the specs for the Vintera version but the CV is very nice. The neck is really comfy.

Not at all. Its really shallow. I have a Player Series P and the neck is a lot thicker.

This finish on the 74 is called Mocha or Walnut (even though the bass is swamp ash). It's a little pale in that picture.

The real color is more like this :

Mocha like all Fender colours appears in many shades. This is a '79 'walnut' P -

Gave the Bongo the old razzle-dazzle (new strings, batteries, fretboard cleaning and a polish.) I need to look up the recommended pickup heights but wow. Disgusting lol
