Screwing around! My spare room/music room/ favorite escape room, is crowded with Xmas decorative boxes! Half my collection.
Just finished this Ugly Duckling.
I always wanted a bass with a reversed headstock, but they're hard to come by, on a budget.
So I built one from assorted AliExpress parts (alder body with PJ slots, left-handed maple neck with laurel fingerboard, Guyker tuners, Wilkinson bridge), and a pair of EMG Geezer PJ's.
The pickguard didn't fit right to the neckpocket, and I didn't feel like milling and sanding that to size, so I decided to get another old damaged pickguard, saw off a bit, and use it like that.
Stained the body and headstock with mahogany-coloured satin finish, a bit sloppy, but, well, good enough.
The bit of copper tape above the bridge is there to tape off the first bit of ground wire coming from the body.
I had to pull the bridge backwards a bit (about 1.5 cm) in order to get the proper scale length.
Strung with Warwick stainless steel 65-135's to drop A.
This bass sounds really thick and heavy.

Nice trio!! That BB is amazing! I wish I had discovered them much sooner. lol I'm struggling right now over whether to sell my Stingray to fund a BBP34.

Well, with the news from last week that Hofner are having financial difficulties and are trying to restructure their company financially I thought I'd post a pick of one of mine. This is a 500/1-61-0.
I sincerely hope that they're able to keep the company in operation for now and many years to come.

Got myself a christmas present.
I didn't need another bass, but, for the price, and these looks, I couldn't resist.
It's probably a cheap Chinese made knockoff, but this Antiquity Rickenfaker does have some balls: the two Music Man style humbuckers are really hot!
It vaguely resembles a Rickenbacker, but with a more regular bridge and scale length, in shiny black.
Yeah, I think I'll have some fun with this one.

I've owned a "Cavern" for many years so its configuration isn't new to me. I actually prefer its tone with both pickups on. It improves the voicing by increasing the mid-tones of the bass while maintaining the deep woody tone the neck pickup produces. In my opinion it's improved tone definition.

I like low mids and was wondering if having a pickup father from the bridge would offer something closer to that. Glad to hear it’s working for you.
