This morning’s bench shot- installed some Model Ps in my DuffClassicVibe huzzah
Group shot- nice having a proper sounding P in the stable lol
Decided to throw a Duncan Antiquity II inside my mjt P again. It had a real pre cbs 1958 pickup inside however I honestly enjoy the duncan more, especially for the price. I ended up letting the 58 go to someone with a real 58 P they can make original. Win/win.
Truth be told, there isn’t REALLY any difference in tone between the two. Now, my blonde Jazz bass has a real deal 1961 neck pickup inside and that DID make a big difference in tone.

Picked up a Harley Benton MV4-P as they came back in stock on Thomman. Wanted the Burgundy Mist for a good while now.

Picked this up today from the original owner. Been wanting one of these for a LONG time.
2005 Fender Roscoe Beck IV signature bass
I really wanted the 5 string version, but I'm playing more 4's lately.
This had been on Facebook Marketplace for close to a year.
I kinda forgot about it, then sometime in the last 48 hours, the seller dropped the price by $300 and it appeared again.
Too good of a price to pass on. I've been looking for something different from my P's and J's.
This bass is a tone machine. Tons of options with the coil spitting options.
I played it for an hour and had to take it to my local luthier.
The fingerboard had some heavy grime and the intonation seemed off.
Hope to have it back in time for Saturdays gig

Been a while since I posted in here, seems like a good time to update the family photo.
That is a far better selection, both in numbers and quality, than they had on the wall in the bass room at the last GC I visited in L.A!
I love 6-string coffee tables with fancy fretboards and a bunch of knobs and switches but I really dig the simplicity of this one.

That's super sad, you'd expect them to have an excellent selection of quality instruments.
Here's my collection...smaller than some but it does everything I need!
2015 Fender Roadworn Jazz. My favorite Fender I've owned, from Squier all the way up to Custom Shop. I installed some Fralin single coils because I had them on hand (an improvement but admittedly a subtle one). Currently strung with TI jazz flats.
1999 Lakland 55-94 with stock Bartolini electronics. My #1...just a fantastic bass...the best I've ever played! The tone is clear and punchy all the way down to open B. It sounds amazing in a mix.
2001 Lakland 55-63 customized by a previous owner with Sadowsky electronics. This one is my most recent acquisition. I've tried a bunch of 5 string J basses but this is the first one that I think is a keeper.
