Oh I wish. I do need a fretless in my life and what you said would be a good look. This is getting the next best thing IMO lol
Nice evening for plucking on my Jazz Bass and a glass of cranberry juice.
Picked these 2 up last Monday
Cort Artisan Space 4
Marked down as a ex display model for £500 ($669) plays like dream and after 5 days still can't see any signs of previous use
Which leads me to the other one. This one is immaculate, I would say she'd never been out of her case. plastic still on pick guard & control panel nut and and action stupidly high - just like a lot of guitars leave the factories, wrapped in packing foam inside original box. Not a single blemish.
2012 Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass
Got her set up by my tech the same and that's when I found it was 32" scale but feels full size cause the design. Again she plays fantastic.
The pickup is a bit hot for my tastes, not measured but feel it's the Duncan Designed version of the quarter pounder and I'm not overly keen on the switching positions = Baritone (no tone), Single Coil (with tone), Double Bass (no tone).
I'm going to swap the pickup for a more vintage sounding one (any suggestions) I'd really like to get hold of the Wilkinson unit that was in the early Harley Benton PB-50
As for the tones, probably get a new control panel without the switch slot, then a custom 50's style wiring loom

I made a thumb rest from some scrap mahogany and I found a knob that matched my pickup really nice but I only had 1 so tone knob delete

When I custom ordered this, I took a little gamble on how the eye poplar would look in transparent white, but it totally came out like I was imagining. I'm well beyond the honeymoon period on this one at this point but it continues to dazzle. Meticulous workmanship. I had picked the pickups based on my #1 bass for years, a Warwick Taranis. But I knew it wouldn't sound like a Warwick not being one. The sound is capable of being rather EBMM on the bridge and more Jazz bass on the neck. Though in both cases, a little more aggressive unless you dial the tone and/or playing dynamics back.

I have a late model Squier CV 50s and a PB50 HB. Honestly, I prefer the HB. Including the pick up Sound.
I have 3 PB-50's. 1 with the Wilkinson pickup and 2 with the Roswell pickup. The Wilkinson is my preferred sound.

Replaced everything but the neck?
Gosh I love playing this bass. The Labellas are 17 months old at this point.
