It's often quoted as being the "Swiss Army knife" of (electric) basses... and I'll agree. I have many very different basses, all really great basses - but if I needed to grab only one for a make-it-or-break-it situation - I would have no doubt that an L-2000 would do the job.

I like the binding with the headstock. Are the electronics modded as well?

9v L-2000 baby! The pu's you can buy from the G&L website but I had to go though a local authorized G&L dealer to get the pre.

Never played one (so I can't offer insight), but they are undoubtably one of the pillars of electric basses.

I’ve been reading about SX basses for awhile. I decided to get one. The price point was attractive. This is one beautiful bass. I like the old school covers and thumb rest. In my quest to test drive different sounds, I put La Bella Tapewounds on, thanks to a suggestion from another cat here. It set up and intonated fine. It sustains for a very long time. I don’t know if it’s the covers or the strings. The tuners were prone to hanging up, but they seem to have loosened up. The great thing about being a beginner, is everything sounds cool and any bass I get my hands on, is the best bass ever!

Nope, another poster here recommended tapewounds to me in another thread. I use the word cat interchangeably with humans and cats. And sometimes, dogs.

Bought my first bass in many years last week and already looking at another. Epiphone Viola Bass, one owner 5.5 years old. Don't "need" it but sure looks good!

My #1 as of the past 4 yrs, I put a BadAss blk bridge and blk tuners, and Aguilar no noise pickups in, the only complaint is the weight, plays like a dream, love it.
This is how it looked when I got her used on Craigslist, the red strings were cool looking, but sounded

Aerodyne and 4003, what a nice combo. The two beauties work the best for me. Ideal rock basses with a lot of attitude & style. Can’t wish for more, if I am honest. Of course there’s a lot of GAS going on...but I walk tall with these two machines.
