The '63 P is the finest instrument I've ever played . I get it now . Those oldtimers always talking mythical bs but they are right I am beginning to think , this is not like the others .

The original Mahogany wasn't up to the task so it seems . So he did a multi piece Wenge neck , check it out , has a hard V contour \m/
Recently completed this parts build. RGI aluminum neck on a refinished Mexican P bass body. Refinish was done by MJT and they did a wonderful job and were very detailed in their communication in getting my exact ideas and specific color finalized, highly recommend them. Added the Babicz bridge and the pickups are stock. Contemplating getting some custom work done to get a pair of thunderbird pickups installed as I’m pretty familiar with that sound but I’ve been enjoying the stock pickups. This bass has become my go-to doom stick for caveman metal. Anyone interested in aluminum necks should check out RGI, incredible craftsmanship and detail and well worth the wait.
Looks killer! Makes one wonder if they could do a fretless aluminum and how that would sound... maybe with a zero fret so it's consistent sonically...
My 2006 Highway One Precision got a makeover. It was a red wine color with white pickguard (see left). I was happy with it until one of my kids knocked it over and gouged the back of it, I decided it was a good excuse to get it a new paint job and matching headstock in nitro Sea Foam Green. I decided to relic it into a "Closet Queen" so that it would appear very old but hardly played.
Other things I did myself:
- I refinished the neck with Guitar ReRanch vintage clear coat.
- Did the muriatic acid vapor treatment to all the shiny new nickel chrome hardware
- Reliced the pickguard to a matte finish and aged the white layers in it to a yellowed tint
- Installed Nordstrand NP4 splits
- Removed grease bucket circuit
- Installed bone nut
- I also have both ashtrays reliced and looking nice but haven't had the balls to install them.

The white Gibson Thunderbird (Japan Epiphone) was sold a few years ago.
The black 1971 Jazz bass was owned and played by John "Baker" Saunders of Mad Season (Layne Staley and Mike McCready. I still own it.

Here is my 2020 Dingwall NG3 5 string. I cut a pickguard for it from abalone. The first photo shows what the pickguard color looks like when you get the glare just right. Most of the time it looks like pic #2.
Alnico 5's Split Coils near 11k RULE ! I just got an Inductance meter and I'm going to be doing more research into any other variables.

I played a couple of them a couple years ago at the music store in Cologne. Nicely made basses
They are awesome! I've always regretted selling my Fame Baphomet VI...
and the '65 enters the arena ! It's out of this world !
