The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

As always, another sexy bass photo-shoot. My problem is I am in NorCal and it's drier than a tinderbox. I'd be shooting my basses in the weeds...... Well, here's an example.....Actually, I have just retired and I am very much looking forward to doing several more creations.

nice doggies

Well the flaws are hard to see from the pics I guess. I didn't notice any flaws, I just couldn't think where I've seen such things for sale so I wondered if you made them.

Looking at them inspires me to make some myself. Any tips?

I am guessing those are made from making your own mdf from veneer? I have the basic tools, can make a press, wood glue, I have a router and coping saw.

Or is it just something planed down?

I buy pieces of 1/8" thick exotic wood. The problem with a wood pickguard is the wood will crack when you are 95% done

Yeah, that was why I was thinking about basically making some from exotic/hardwood veneer.

A little Googling found this. I think I'll go that route.

Anyway, don't mean to tangent out your thread. Just congrats on the great looking basses.

I love all the photos!

Products and people look better photographed against in natural settings, such as, autumn leaves, wooden fences, brick walls, old buildings, etc cetera.

I haven't taken any real pictures since April, which is not like me.

This Covid thing messed up the model scene, but it's starting to come back.

I'll post a couple of photos later.

I had Columbus day off. I spent much of the day working in the Garden, but I did a nice photoshoot of my bass collection ... I currently own 15. I have 3 others that are in parts in my work shop being assembled as I get time.

This is an interesting one it is a frankenstein parts bass with a SG body and a 32" neck and 3 pickups. Yes it has been reliced.

An experiment I'm messing with. Making it fretless....

I have more, a Dean acoustic resonator fretted, an old Ovation electric liver bass, a few other oddities, but no pics of those. I also have quilted maple over mahogany bodied Iceman body on order from Warmoth to build 4 string fretless with.

This is my first post. Never been a part of a bass forum before. 43 years playing. I probably won't post too much but thought ya might like to see my odd #1 and #2.

That is definitely one of a kind. Super cool.

Is that a Samurai sword in your bass case?

Why yes sir Rod Barchetta that is a sword in my case. Never go anywhere without it. Is that odd? You don't have a sword in your bass case?

So, when a cop searches your case and tells you that you are under arrest for carrying a concealed weapon, you can say "what, the sword or the bass"?
