I love them. They're warm and even. I have a sr900 with Bartolinis and I think the Barts are a little more aggressive to me. But very similar. The neck and fret board are very comfortable. I swear I can play better on the natural neck. Just feels better

This is a 1987 Gibson IV, part of the same hiccup that produced the Q-80 and 20/20. Another effort create new models to make some inroads against the Fender machine, and only made for 2 years. Having said that, it's an excellent bass. Set mahogany neck, one piece mahogany body, ebony board, Schaller hardware and first year TB+ pickups which became the standard pickup in Thunderbirds. You can see it was aimed at the P bass, both in shape and neck (1 5/8" nut) .
In every other respect it's a Thunderbird! Usually at half the price too. A joy to play and sounds great!!! These also came in a 5 string version.

Thanks Dude , that is a amp from my buddy Jeff , it's a Fender Super with a EF86 preamp tube in the front end . The Super 86 . It's a beast of an amp . Really works well with bass too . It's the only tube amp I've held on to over all these years and I've had them all lol . We have Sevts , Mullard's and RFT's in this thang .It's healthy !

Jeff also built the GK shell and Walnut 1x10 for me

Wanted an inexpensive P for my startup studio. Got a Harley Benton PB-20 for 80€ (immaculate, plus gig bag, strap, 2 cables, 2 tuners). Left the dead strings it came with (not the stock ones, still seller ignores the brand), just tidied up the windings at the pegs (awfully done) and set it up (relief was OK, nut lowered, action also lowered a bit, intonation). Plays and sounds better than any Squier Affinity I've played (1/2 the price even used). So this is my new cheap baby.

The Sire P5 is the biggest surprise on the bass market for 2021. For below 500 bucks u get an unbelievable quality which feels and plays better than any MIM Fender. Grap on, if u can.
