Thank you, all. I have been playing the bass much of two days and enjoying the hell out of it.
For those interested, the strap was made for the bass (and me) by Samuele and Alberto of LeRockskin. We took our inspiration from some great 1960s silk ties, I found this design on a Pucci tie in a collection some museum had on display. The guys did a great job recreating it in leather and adding their own fantastic touches. They do wonderful work at reasonable prices with quick turnaround times, even though they are in Italy. No affiliation other than being a happy customer; I know because I have at least 4 other straps from them made to match other basses. Fair warning: their straps are addicting.

Thanks! I just wired/assembled it this weekend. It's my own custom designed/built "Juniper", referencing an early '60s Italian Meazzi Hollywood Jupiter bass. In fact, the string-stop cover is from a vintage Meazzi Jupiter. Journeyman luthier Dan Ransom/SF made the lovely flamed/torrified maple/ebony medium scale neck with 22 banjo frets to my specs (it will be Plek'd next week), and Pat Wilkins/SoCal did the beautiful finishing on the body. It's chambered and the bass weighs 7lbs/13oz and balances well. Upper bout 5-way selector switch is N/B/N&B/series/kill-switch. V and push-pull T pot incorporates a fuzz circuit when pulled up.
