I'm going to own one of these eventually. Last time I had a chance it was a hefty 10.5lbs so I passed. If I come across one in the mid to low 9s I'll pounce.
Just finished up making some lovely changes to my CV 70s Jazz:
Installed a set of 9CBJS L3/S3 Bartolinis and swapped the guard to tort. Also, fresh stainless Rotosounds! Sounds great!!

You, my friend, are responsible for inspiring the GAS that led to me owning one. The praise is well deserved, and I’m very happy to have picked one up before they disappeared. Mine’s now strung through-body, BEAD. Awesome bass!

It sounds awesome! That was actually my first bass I got about 10 years ago on Craigslist for $100. It had no pickgaurd and stock pickups. My dad routed out the bridge pickup spot and we had a ring fab’d at my buddy’s metal shop to cover up the imperfections. Its an EMG MMTW active with the push pull vol. Fender released the Flea signature a few years later this is pretty much it without a maple board and a $1600 price tag
here is the beginning phase of my next Short scale build. Right now it’s got a med wind 7.5 k alnico strat lipstick with some rotosounds I had extra. Just finished jeweling a set of these budget friendly profile tuners. if I hate the tuners I’ll get hip shots iltra lights. these were drop in replacements even match the screw holes Cetera.
Eventually it’s getting two more pick ups and a longer aged pearl pick guard to fit all three pickguards. I still have to make a template out of MDF for the new Pickguard.
sort of like a fender rascal bass except for the bridge and the neck pick up I’m going to be using the longer danelectro style 4.5 K alnico vintage pick ups.
fun turning something cheap into something good.

Just put some Teflon tape on the threads of the bar and you can put it wherever you want. I think I have the same Kahler on my FrankenFender.
