IDK. Every J bass I’ve had has been a “she”.

My FW strung P is most assuredly a “he” because kicks my butt if I haven’t practiced on it for a bit.

I'm not one to name my basses or reference them as male or female... but if I had to name my '66 - it would logically be gender neutral... "Jay" :)

Really excited about these 2 basses - All I need. White is a January 1965, Sunburst is an August 1966.

This old friend recently came back to me after a couple of years. I sold it to my ex-wife a couple of years ago, but felt the lack of a white (ish) bass, as well as a JB, so when she wanted to sell it, I bought it back.

Before I sold it to her, I put EMGs in it, along with brass Wilkerson saddles, and I just changed the strings to DR Pure Blues, which are now my favorite roundwound strings. It has the clearest acoustic sound of any of my basses, and the pickups and strings really compliment its tone. It weighs about 9.5 pounds, but you can hear the weight in the sound, and it sounds good. It performed well at band practice yesterday, and really sounds like a J. If you're considering buying one of these Tagimas, they're dirt cheap and I highly recommend them, with the caveat that the neck pocket, pick guard and bridge mounting are not standard.
