The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Just replaced the strings on my Peavey Grind 6 NTB. Modded with EMG 45DCs and BQS System at 18V. Grind and polished frets for ultra low action, and custom bone nut.

Recent additions are 3 Fender Ultra basses. 2022 Cobra Blue Jazz, 2022 Artic Pearl Jazz V, and a rare 2020 Plasma Burst Precision.

Just received my first Fender P-bass. Player series In tobacco burst. Changed the pick guard out and put TI flats on it. Homemade strap with rattlesnake inlay (I do leather work on the side). Really digging it so far and can’t wait to rehearse with it!

What's the P bass in your profile pic?

Ah. Looks good. I like the contrasting finish.

Thank you. The wood is black korina and that contrast you see is how it came. All I really did to it was apply a black leather dye to the back and edges, trying to create a somewhat black-to-clear burst. And then a few coats of low gloss tung oil.

Today my first bass, the Chinese Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass in Olympic White, finally got the sibling it was emulating all along. The Squier even had the Pure Vintage 64 Jazz pickups from the American Original series.

The new (used) Fender American Original 60s Jazz Bass came with a set of Lollar J 4S, so there is not too much redundancy.

It is also the first bass I own that sounds and feels great with Thomastik Jazz Flats. For the other three I finally ended up with LaBella flatwounds, either DTF 760FL or Low Tension Flats, after a long and expensive search period.

On the Peavey Grind, Were the EMG's a Direct retro fit or did you have to do some routing?

I did do routing yes, but only on the corners. The EMGs are square cornered while the OEM passives were rounded. Also routed the electronics cavity to fit the two 9 volt batteries inside

Here is the rest of the collection! The latest edition is going to be delivering on Sunday. That will make it number 14!

1. Ibanez GSR200 (very first bass ~2002.)
......It doesn't have the original neck but I found one from the same era on eBay a few years ago. The original neck was maliciously destroyed but I took the time to rebuild it and put frets on it reading up on how to do it with a Stewart McDonald book and various tools. I did a YouTube video on this detailing the rebuild. It now has a Canadian hard maple fingerboard with blue abalone fret dot markers. I will admit they are the stick on kind but even after all this time they are still sticking on their very good!

2. Dean Acoustic Electric Zebrawood
3. Red Hadean Neck through 5 string (double HB, super hot output for 9 volts)
4. Sterling by MM Ray4HH (This bass I got for free!)
5. Glarry GJazz II in blue/black
6. ZLG Sunburst PJ (China knockoff but sounds 70s)
7. Traven Array NT Black Fade (Nobody likes the tribal flames but me ha!)
8. Samick Fairlane FN-5 in quilted hunter green (has SBK-3AD preamp from Guitar Fuel/ToneMonster running 18V)
9. Peavey Grind NTB 6 (EMG 45DCs and BQS System running 18V)
10. USA Fender Ultra Jazz V Artic Pearl 2022
11. USA Fender Ultra Jazz Cobra Blue 2022
12. USA Fe der Ultra Precision Plasma Burst 2020 (last year with an Ash body)
13. Ashthorpe C85 Acoustic (wedding anniversary gift from the wife!)
14. ...., Will post Sunday!

Wednesday was an NDD (New Dingwall Day), as I received this NG3 6-string, Black Forest Green, set up at Dingwall’s shop in F#0, with a custom six-way pickup selector and Dunlop strap lock buttons installed at FretNation, before they sent it on to me.

Nice. One of my dream basses. I'm a fan of the Indigo Burst with Maple fingerboard. Sigh someday, someday! Ha!
