Nah, don't be concerned... I'm sure you'll like it, but we kept it on a "friendly" level for this exact reason -- just a nice thanks for some photographic diligence. On behalf of all contribs, thanks again, and enjoy! :)

Yeah, you're close Tom. I want top end, but I don't want the tone to be "in your face" like maple. Some growl would be cool, but looking for some even response through the frequencies.
Let's put it this way: If you were going to do a lot of recording with a large variety of different artists (and God knows I would love to do that some day...maybe in heaven:D ) and only use ONE Skjold to do the job, what fingerboard would do the trick?

I'm a big fan of ebony for fb's, and now also pao ferro even more than before... especially if you want something that's a little more even'd out and versatile.

When you put it that way, I'd go with ebony.

Thanks for keeping us posted on the development of our instruments. I can't imagine what the build period would have been like if you hadn't been providing some color commentary.

BTW I have made heavier basses , I think 12 lbs is the heaviest . It was a mahogany six string whaleback . Even that bass feels manageable on a good strap .

Hi all
For your information -
I finally had a chance to weigh my Skjold on a UPS scale. Don't know if mine is the wenge topped one in the first batch -I have a 6 sting ECS with a wenge top and back, black korina body and birds eye maple accent layer on the top and bottom. It weighed in at 11.01 pounds. It now has an ebony ramp made by Pete which adds a bit to the weight and is strung with heavy guage strings F#, B, E, A ,D, G which adds a bit more to the weight.

(Can I still be in the Official Skjold Club even if I considered trading my Skjold?)
